******WARNING********

2 Turns on the waste gate + 34 degree's + hard pull from 1st gear to 2nd gear to 3rd gear + 20psi of boost = R owner giggling like a little school girl!

Seriously, I went out last night to pick up a new cable modem and came to a light that was red, down shifted to first, slowed to look as I was turning right, nailed the gas around the corner hit 18 3/4 psi, shifted into second gear at 5300 rpm, boost gauge hit 20psi and stayed there until I hit 3rd gear. I love this free MOD! I giggled like a little girl for a few minutes then had to call MightyQ to rub it in.

Only because he called to rub it in, LOL j/k Fast you know I'll just paste "My Little Pony" stickers all over the rear end of the R when your not home

Haha, intentional mistake, due to my belife that the company is a compleat joke....... even though I am more the likely going to buy there hood vents.

Back to the topic at hand......
The best way to describe the car after the 2 turns is that the R no longer feels like the larger car that it is. It feel much, much quicker. More similer to my old (tuned) S40 T5 (see sig). The S40 T5 was not as powerful but with its smaller turbo, the power was much more accesable in the lower RPM range. With the 2 turns of the thimble I can really feel the boost come on much stronger and much earlier.

I wonder how this will affect everybody's fuel consumption

I was just on my way to asking what this will do to the fuel economy. I guess the current prices dont have anyone thinking as greatly about sqeezing out half a mpg anymore.

Hell when I fuel up I spray gas all over the ground just cause I can afford it now. Just feels like the right thing to do.

So currently no one thinks this is a bad mod to do on a stock engine without a boost qauge.

Two things nobody says on their deathbed...

1) I wish that I had put in more hours at the office

2) I wish I had consumed less fuel

LOL...

And...

Yes I've found my MPG average has gone down a bit. I eat through a whole tank of gas a little quicker, even when trying to make my right foot lose some weight. Fat chance though...

It's lower by one mpg or two for this reason: You can't keep your foot out of it.

I'll second that! Your first tank of gas is going to go quick after this MOD because you wont be able to keep your foot out of it. Its like the first week of owning the car all over again.

so is the area easier to reach from the top of the car or is jacking required. my whole 6'5 frame is long but large hands never work well with auto mechanics. lots of small scars from radiators and clamps.

Re: (stormchasin_racin)

Top down, if your having a hard time, the Upper engine mount/bar comes off... and maybe the Over the engine pipe.

I don't think any of us modify our Rs for better gas mileage. Stick with a C30 and keep it below 55 mph if you want the mpg-miserly brick.

Re: (T5 for Life)

I'm still wondering if this adjustment has been so successful because everyone started doing it over the last couple weeks when it got as cold as a witch's teet over much of the US. A few weeks ago we were still reaching highs in the 70s here in VA, so I really haven't had much of a chance to feel the cold weather HP.

Easy way to check....turn it back.

Good point. It has been nice each time when the past four summers turned to fall and the car loved it. With two turns (so far) it seems much nicer. Butt dyno can still be wrong though...

Re: Wastegate Tweaking from the "IPD Performance Discussions" Forum (850arrrsaylikepirate)

Proving the earlier statement " A monkey could do it", I executed this nice tweak today, my first on the new car

Thanks to all of you for the informative posts.

Didn't need any nutbuster, just a little elbow grease!

Your theory would hold water if the "before and after" were performed weeks apart where the cold weather can make a difference. Doing this mod, and then driving the car minutes after indicate that this mod is the real deal given same temps. It only gets better as the cold sets in because this engine likes the cold so much.
