Just bought a 2005 S40...sweet. Bought used from a dealer with 15000 miles on it. I was wondering if I had to do anything else special than send in the warranty card in the back of the owners manual. I was also wondering if the service contract to 30K was included, can't find anything about transferring that. As well, the car was at a Caddy dealership, how do I find out if the 15K service was done on the car, does Volvo keep that record in some database? Lots of questions, Thanks for you reply!!!

Re: Warranty/Service Contract (matmacwc)

Volvo will be aware of what the original "in service" date of the car was, and the warranty will follow the car, so you're covered without needing to do anything. That said, it's a good idea to make sure that Volvo knows you own the car so that they can send you recall notices (there's one out right now for your car's fuel line, in fact) and other information.<p>Regarding the 15K, the first four scheduled services are complementary on your model year car. I assume that benefit transfers with the car. Anyway, Volvo should know what services have been done (otherwise you could go get a free service at a different dealer every week!) so call your local dealer, give 'em the VIN, and ask.

Good news, Volvo does honor the service contract and warranty! Free 15K oil change!
