Warranty options once factory warranty runs out?

Hey - can someone let me know of possible warranty options that volvo offers once a factory warranty runs out? Basically, does volvo have any good options, or would I be forced to go with one of those shady aftermarket warranty companies? Thanks.

The extended warranty I've employed on my last 3 vehicles is put the $$$$ I would have spent on the warranty in an interest bearing CD or MM account while the car was still under the factory warranty.

Take out the necessary funds for said repairs after the original warranty has expired.
After 108,000 miles on my XC90 I still haven't had to touch it.

Odds are one will never get out of the warranty what was paid into it. http://********************/smile/emcocktl.gif

i purchased one from my dealer after my factory warrenty expired, cost me $1800, but they replaced my v8 engine after it blew up but i had to eat the two $400 o2 sensors out of pocket. Saved me 15k on the motor

How did you blow the engine? Never heard of a v8 going.

Why year and mileage do you have? Volvo has some options but depending on your year and mileage there might be a huge surcharge making it too expensive.

We have a few months left before ours runs out. WarrantyDirect warranty would cost me around $2800 for adding 4/50000 to the warranty. Of course, it is a 3rd party with a $50 deductible. Right now, we are leaning towards NOT getting the extended warranty as the V8 setup seems to be pretty reliable. But I tow a small boat and just worry a lot. And the XC90 doesn't appear to be a DIYer model regarding repairs.

We're torn between just keeping it out of warranty, getting the WD warranty, or trading it in for a chevy traverse.

No worries...this is now a moot point. We purchased a CPO xc90 yesteday. Looking forward to being a member here!
