I am purchasing a 2001 S60 2.4T with 55,000 and the current owner told me he has a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. He says its transferable, does anyone know what this warranty would cover and if it is indeed transferable.
Thanks

Re: Warranty on used 2001 S60 2.4T (charlesd34)

I would contact the dealer and find out.
I purchased an 01 S60 2.4T with 36,000 miles. It now has 50K and the dealer told me that it did not have a warranty.

Always contact the dealer service dept and make sure you have the VIN with you when you call.
Hope it helps.

Re: Warranty on used 2001 S60 2.4T (charlesd34)

I found out it was certified pre-owned...they are the second owners...so the warranty is 7 years or 100,000 from inservice date which was Aug 6, 2001. So I get almost 2 and a half years for the 50 dollar transfer fee which is pretty sweet.

I have had nothing but trouble with my extended. Mechanical things included.
The dealership claimed things were not covered, I thought it was BS, upon reading it myself they were not.
I could have saved a ton of cash by not buying it and going to my own shop for work.

When I took it in for a loose nut or something in the steering collumn, something they said happens frequently to 01's because that piece is out-dated, they still charged me quite a bit for it. Ive had to pay for everything ive taken it in for, some rightfully, others I felt warranty shoulda covered. The only thing they did cover was the cooling fan recall replacement . But oh well, had I had a major problem wtih the engine im sure I woulda been happy to have the warranty under my belt, but again how often does a mechanical catastrophe happen due to product mal-function in a Volvo?
