Greetings:
My week-old purchased '93 850 GLT just got its radio codes entered in(!), and not wanting to be satisfied with the first radio tunes heard since I bought the car, I now want to get a CD changer for it.
As I see a "CD" button on the radio, before I go the route of getting a FM-Modulated changer thrown in, I wanted to see if perhaps I can get a factory changer to play thru the radio.
What type of CD changer came with the '93 850 GLT?
Thanks,

Re: Want a Cd changer for my new (to ME) '93 850 GLT (cwashii)

A Volvo CD changer
Seriously, I'm not sure who made it but they are available used.
I'm not sure about 93's though, they made SIGNIFICANT changed to the entire 850 line in 94 and I'm not sure if anything from 93 is interchangable, probably is, but not sure
Ask on the audio forum

im pretty sure all the 850's used the same or very similar changer in them. if its the 6-disk in the trunk you want you dont need the amp, if you use the 3-disc in face changer you will need the alpine amp.

I think Alpine made the changers as well. Erie Vovo usually has some in stock.

Alpine made a 6-Disc that fits in the glovebox, works through the controls on the factory stereo. It was pretty slick - I had one in my '94.
Volvo made a 10-Disc Changer that went in the trunk, at least in '94. I'll be looking for one of these in a few months for my '96... they were expensive, and even used they seem pretty pricey ($ 700+).
Good luck!

I had an Alpine CHM-S620 that I installed into my '93 GLT. It worked through the factory radio.
I still have the interface cable, and a spare 6 CD cassette. I'd part with them for CHEAP!

There's a 6-Disc here, pretty cheap...
http://portland.craigslist.org....html

I have an apline in the glove compartment. Its tight but works fine. You need to get an interface cable so the unit can be connected into the radio jack. The cable also has a power line with an inline fuse that you need to tie into a power source. I tie the wire into the hot wire for the radio. Installation took about an 1 1/2 hrs. My has been in for about 4 years now had no problems.
