The writer owns an VW and is baised perhaps... What a horrible thing to say that the VW comes out on top... Maybe just my mentality...

If you put those to cars in the ring the Hitlermobile would get it's ass beat down...

40 grand for a VW is just stupid. What is VW thinking? Trying to get a piece of the luxury market now!? HAHAHAHAHAHA
If you come from the VW world you could see the value in the car. What you have is a W8 in a Passat, latter to be mated to a 6spd, this car ios a dream come true for die hard VW Drivers. This car was not meant to sold in large numbers. Just a few select poeple that will shell out 40k for a VW. Would I trade my S60 for it hell no! Do I think its a cool car hell yes. I just like the drive train, not to say the Passat and ugly car because its not. I think its one of the best, S60,G35,5 series,Passat. I can remember when the 2.0l 16v 134hp motor was the largest they offered, now look at them, W8, hats off to VW for having the guts to amke a car like that. Little bit oof heads up a company in Maryland is working on a twin turbo set-up for the W8. They can get almost 700hp out of a VR6 so what can they get out of the W8. Hey guys dont get me wrong I love my S60 T5, her body kit is on the way, her new wheels are on the way, and her power upgrades are in the works, I just need to find time to send my ECU off

Before I bought my S60 last fall, I owned a Passat 1.8T and I seriously considered waiting for the W8. Ultimately, the lack of a sport suspension and those ugly wheels caused me to pass on it, but I think that if you ignore the VW badge there is a lot there for the money.

Arghhhh!!! You were doing pretty good until you wrote this!!! Are you kidding me? The Passat is one hell of an ugly car. The only things uglier (in the VW lineup) are the Passat Wagon and the Eurovan.

I know that style and looks are appreciated in a asubjective manner but to put the Passat in the same "league" as the G35 and the 5-series...I think that is heresy!

I agree with you guys, there is a lot of car for the money in the W8 4-Motion. The Passat is probably the best car in its class (Camry, Accord, Altima), IMHO. But not really in the same class as the G35 or 5-Series.

BUT, if I had to buy a VAG product, I would rather spend my money on an Audi A4 3.0 QMS, no question!

For sure, the Passat is the best in the Camry, Accord and Altima class.

I happen to have a 2002 Camry as a rental and let me tell you this car sucks! The seats are cut short on the bottom leaving your legs more than half off the seat. The steering is numb beyond belief. It took me a couple days to get used to the brakes which don't really grab unless you jump on the pedal. The handling is odd in that it doesn't roll a whole lot initially on turn in, but when it does give in, the cheesy tires make it an adventure. And lastly, the four cylinder engine is lifeless. I don't know how they sell so many of them.

I apologize to anyone here who has one of these, but this is just my observation.

First Im not putting any in any league, because all of the cars are different, they all serve a different purpose. I like all of the cars I mentioned, Repeat what I like, When I went shopping for a car I looked at all these cars ecept for the G35 since it was not out at the time. I chose the Volvo S60 for the value. I bought my car in Puerto Rico and it was 48K for a T5. 530i was 65K, audi A6 2.7t 66K, passat v6 4motion 44k, Saab 95 Aero 51K( I forgot to metion that I like the Saab 95 I think I will buy one for my secound car) The Passat is a VW, if you dont come from a VW world you would think the car is ugly. I dont! I have been driving VW's since 1986. I think the car is very nice and the 1.8t is well worth the money, much more of a value than a S40(which I owned prior to my s60) Most Volvo's are boring, most keep their Volvo's boring, The aftermarket is slim and very expensive but thats another story. Dont get me wrong I love my car, I have always love Volvo's. From experience most that drive them only see the value in them only. My friend the world is bigger than Volvo. Repeat none of the cars I mentioned are in the same class, they all have their purpose, and I like each of them.
