Who wants a Marauder? I'm glad we skipped out on an Integra for the girlfriend and got a 626 instead.

Re: (waccamatt)

Waccamatt........
It has been awhile since Volvo salespeople did any "feasting".....We are selling cars...don't get me wrong, but other than the C70...it is a buyers market. Profits at the retailer level are non-existant!
For some dealerships...not ours thankfully...the time is approaching when the customers desire to get the lowest price and the dealers desire to stay in business will have a head to head conflict! The sad part for the dealers that are not prepared for this is that the customer can take his business elsewhere.....these cars are not going to disappear by themselves.
The sooner Volvo understands that concept and begins to get that message to the consumer...the better off we will all be! Volvo is a good bang for the buck! and we need to keep it that way. Hopefully the new C30 will be priced with that attitude in mind!
Now...back to the subject of the thread There are a # of reasons why Volvos are hard to steal and why the theif won't waste his time. For one...the radio..if stolen will not work in any vehicle except the one that recognizes that radio reciever with the computer in that specific vehicle. In other words...the radio is worthless once it is removed from a car!
Another reason...the starter has an immobilzer, so even if the experienced car theif gets into the car and tries to hotwire it...it just won't start! The computer will not allow the starter to turn the engine over or get any battery current.
Car thieves steal what is the easist to steal... not necessarily what is the most popular car! They're not stupid...just criminals!
