Yes swedishiron, you have a point that many items are similar if not the same on the other 7 and 9 seris vechs. That may be very so. BUT you have a 780 and a V6 at that. SO they might jsut cut thier losses and not wish to work on YOUR car AT ALL as it is a 780. Think about it this way. If you got the car in there for the bushings and they did them. And then maybe by some freak chance there is another issue with the car. And you say by the way WHILE it is here can you look? Then they the dealer is MARRIED TO YOU and your 780. AND might not have a tech that speaks 780 just basic 7-9 seris. Would you be happier if they showed you the door after working on it and then can not fix it. Or are LOST on where to look on a 780 ONLY special fix. Or never open the door first as they seem to be trying to tell you, and your not listening.

You miss the point totally sadley. No one ever said that working on a old volvo like a 544/122/142/P1800/240 or such was WHO GIVES A FAK deal. Just that if your driving a POS 780 V6 that had very FEW sold when they were new(and problematic NEW!) then you are the exception not the rule. And need to be more open to LOOKING HARDER for a GOOD mech that can work on it and staying with them. No amount of WHINEING about dealers and Volvo as a company not supporting you) w1ntson will change that fact. Many guys work on many older Volvos. And are HAPPY to do so weather and Indie or dealer. And you can not ASSUME as you DO! that a way simpler designed in its day P1800 or 122 or 544 or 142 or 240 is anything ever nor was like a 780 model!
