This is an amazing award, history repeating itself from when the first XC90 won the same award in its first year and it only a sample of what this $11 BILLION investment has meant. This is only the beginning!

It is also worth watching the segment when the announcement was made and the comments by the Motor Trend people.

And this time it is more modern, more stylish, more high-tech!

And T8 is not in. T8 could well win another time, the 2017 SUV of the year. T8 is a phenomenal family vehicle.

Nice to see recognition of a great job! Congratulations!

On a side note, you can start the YouTube video at the 21st minute, the rest is like watching a fish flop around on the ground.

Why be on a car forum then?

what metrics or parameters do they go by to judge these vehicles and find a clear winner? the 2007 camry was one of the worst camry vehicles ever built and extremely problematic, the 2010 outback was horrible as well the chrysler 300 is a floaty piece of crap although some of its mb architecture is decent, forester is a rusty underpowered junk box, volt is an electric car that doesnt even quality for HOV/clean pass too much to type at the moment but most of the vehicles on that list are just bad. more important is the fact that they are generally in cahoots with whomever they pick in regards to marketing post award.

Why be on a car forum then?
what does being on swedespeed or any car forum have to do with motor trend car of the year? i join these online communities to read through concentrated material on a specific product along with discussing issues or concerns on the vehicle. find out information that my local dealer may not know or may supply to me and of course to look at photos of how others may have customized or modified their vehicles. none of that has anything to do with motor trend.

As a MotorTrend subscriber I wonder how long the testing procedure is for MT SUV of the year? I know their regular reviews are for just a day or two. Then they also have their Long Term Test Fleet where they keep a vehicle for several months. Considering all of the assorted issues on the XC90 that have been covered in these forums....
