Lately there appeared some predictions about Volvo X100. Most of the renders show X7-style version of XC90. What is interesting, the drive should be as in Polestar 1: 2 e-motors + 4-cylinder engine. What do you think about this car. May it be succesful?

Do you think it would include air ride and R trim?

There are some luxury touch they can try on XC100, such as automated running board, soft-closing doors, and so on.
But they will probably not add the powered telescoping steering column, which is offered by other luxury brands.

Popularity wise it will be welcomed in China and US by some buyers. It will be much better than Excellent edition but still only a small factor of XC90 sales. At best it could be comparable to S90 sales.

it'll never happen but I think that this justifies a larger motor. Maybe a 5 or 6 cyl in the same flavors (T5/T6) offered with the 2.0. Also, can we get the HVAC controls out of the screen and in button form on the dash? Maybe a dual control like Mercedes for the screen menus. The center start knob wastes some valuable real estate on a control that I use exactly twice during a drive.

It will have some amount of battery at least. May be just a PHEV or EV. So maybe just remove the start/stop button. You can shift the gear and go.
ICE engine will start whenever necessary.
