Alright, I already live in an area with a decently high percentage of Volvos (Washington, DC). This past weekend, we took a C70 convertible over to Maryland's Eastern Shore to the bay side. There are three little towns in a concentrated area (Easton, Oxford and St. Michael's).
Driving in I noted three different independent Volvo shops (rt 50 Easton, rt 33 in Easton and rt 333 in Oxford) and a Volvo dealer. More importantly, Volvos were freakin everywhere, from new XCs to everything else. I saw plenty of 240s, 700s, 900s, 800s, 70s, 80s, 60s and more. I spotted 2 780s, an 850R etc. etc. Needless to say I was pretty darn impressed with it....not to mention the area is beautiful. I'm going to use the experience and the photos to kick off a new series of articles in our Features section like Getaways or something (Volvo themed day trips).

Hey! I was thinking of starting up a little thread on that, too, maybe with a title like "Cool Drives in a Volvo" or "Day Trips" or some such. I have two in mind that I'd like to share (a Canadian Rockies trip I did -- week-long drive in a 2000 S70, and one to the Columbia River Gorge/Southern Washington/Northern Oregon trip), but I haven't had time to start up a thread!
I'm always fishing for new ideas for road trips and scenic drives, so I thought it'd be neat to see what drives other members had taken (in their Volvos, or not). It would be cool if you started something up....
[This message has been edited by Lisa62 (edited 06-24-2002).]

Hey Lisa, if you shot pics, I'd be open to putting them up on the site as a feature as well. We'll probably add a subsection to the FEATURES section of the site. As I am geographically challenged, that'd be something we'd definitely be open to taking submissions on once we have a format figured out.

I took plenty of neat pics on the Canadian Rockies trip (in Alberta & BC) -- the scenery in the national parks, the glaciers, the monster-truck-bus things that drive out onto the glaciers, mountain goats, a cute log cabin place we stayed in, and most importantly, 3 or 4 shots of our rental S70.
I think it'd be a neat place for members to post their car-trip / day-trip ideas, either with or without pictures, and with or without Volvo tie-ins. (Let's face it. Some of the best places to drive are out in the middle of nowhere, right?!) I bet there are several members with trip ideas (be they past or future trips)!

You're right. When we upgrade the forums software, I might add a Road Trips forum or Great Drives, something like that. I'm not against it, I'd just like to run some features on similar stories also.
If I do the latter, would you be interested in contributing a story on your trip?

Absolutely! (I'm still pondering a similar comment you made regarding a kid-proofing thing. I intend to do it -- just have to find the time! I will. Eventually.)

I'm with you Lisa. I have more articles that I'd write if I had the time. I just fit it in as I can.
