The game will be free of charge.
The fresh and exiting Volvo S60 Concept headlines the car line up and will be accompanied by several well known Volvo race cars. The players will be able to hammer this variety of Volvo cars around two highly detailed and realistic tracks.
"Volvo - The Game gives us an opportunity to introduce the Volvo S60 Concept to a much wider target group. In an impassioned way and in an unusual environment we are able to expose the interior and exterior design of Volvo cars. As an extra bonus we also have the opportunity to show the players how we have worked in a focused way over the years to enhance and develop our Scandinavian design", says Michael Persson, Director Global Marketing Communication at Volvo Cars.
"To work with such a professional team as SimBins has been a real pleasure for us", he adds.
"When Volvo Cars asked us if we were able to develop a Volvo racing game for PC, suitable for a wide audience and including the new S60 Concept car, we picked up on the challenge straight away" says Henrik Roos, SimBin Studios CEO. "Especially since it was Volvo Cars located in Sweden that was asking. Two Swedish brands joining forces sounded like a perfect match to us",
As in all games developed by SimBin this game will deliver a great experience in sound and detail with a fun and challenging game as a cherry on the cake. The game comes with three difficulty levels to appeal to a broad audience, from new comer to the experienced gamer.
"Our development team has felt welcome in all areas of the Volvo company and Volvo staff has really taken on the project in a positive and professional way", says Magnus Ling, Executive Vice President, SimBin Studios.
As an extra feature "Volvo-The Game "includes leader boards that will be published on Volvo cars website with competitions and prices to be won when the game is released.
Please note: Volvo –The Game is set for release May 26.

Is it me, or does Volvo need to make the front air intakes smaller and the trunk bigger to make the S60 Concept look "right?

I read this this morning. I think this is the best sign for Volvo-performance enthusiasts. Even better than the R-line/design whatever.
The latter offers performance styling - skirts, lower suspension, trim. You can also get that on any number of cars that have no connection to performance whatsoever. See, eg., Camry, Fit, Vibe, HHR. People like to look fast, even if their most enthusiast oriented driving is getting to the video store before it closes.
But video games play to people who like fast. Admittedly, there is a wide spectrum between the S40 T5 (also featured in a video game) and a Veyron, but to be featured in a game like this connotes some tossability, some above average acceleration. This suggests to me that Volvo has not overlooked this aspect of engineering and production. There may be an R at the end of the tunnel yet.
(Assuming the game isn't all about safety features.)

I’m not necessarily down on the air intakes, but I’d like to see them drop the “wave” shoulder-line in favor of the more traditional Volvo shoulder-line that resolves in a more grounded rear. I think the best thing about the S60 concept is the interior and its use of leather, wood, metal and glass—exactly the stuff least likely to find their way into the production vehicle. I’m also intrigued by Volvo’s rekindled love for the four-cylinder engine. I hope to see some neat stuff there.

Re: Volvo the game (Johann)

creating oversteer with the R is hugh fun Johann, I think you went the wrong way with stiffing it up.
Finally made the holes in the foglights last weekend .... need to visit annual inspection before the 2nd of June if the exhaust fails I'll order instandly the TME one (my kat is loose inside already ±1.5yr) ... if it passes I will get 1st the sport-body-kit .... lately the more i see photo's of the sportkit the more I like it.

Re: Volvo the game (o2k)

I have the game loaded on my laptop because my other computer is a MAC. Does anyone know how I can get my Xbox 360 controller to work with the game. It is listed in the profiles under controllers but I plug it in and nothing. I hate using the keyboard.
