It is possible to replace from under the dash with a 10mm flex head wrench and a 14mm socket. A long (4ft) pry bar from under the hood makes a different when trying to remove from the rack.They take a beating. It’s aluminum housing on p2 and a small u joint.
Reason to replace during steering rack replacement or other subframe out job is that it’s one extra bolt versus doing that entire job a second time if/when it gets sloppy or freezes
