Hi,

Last week my dealer installed the volvo sport suspension kit (shocks & springs) on my '02 V70. I immediately noticed that the front left makes a thunking noise over road irregularities. Upon listening more closely, all other corners are nice & quiet. So, I'm bringing the car back to the dealer tomorrow to solve the thunk.

Anything specific I should suggest he look for? Supposedly the shop forman did the install.

Thanks.

2001 V70 T5 has had clunking/bobbling over road irregularities due to ball joint (replace) and tie rod ends (replace). Easiest to hear with windows UP. Best wishes.

Ok. So I take it you've had the sport suspension install done. Cool.

What's the approx. cost of such a thing... and what would the noticeable differences/improvements be?

... besides clunking/bobbing.

The hardware was $640 through a Volvo dealer that discounts parts. The install & four wheel alignment was $500.

The improvements are significant. Assuming the clunk is a fixable anomoly, the car now handles much more in a much more nutural fashion. Less plowing into the corners, a series of curves feels like a straight line, and there is practically no nose dive.

I also prefer the looks - lowered, but not slammed.

The ride to me is not too firm at all - my wife says it's fine, as well.

As the most telling litmus test, my 3 year old, ever honest, has not asked why the car rides so hard - so it must be fine :).

No, I have not...I was just responding to the "clunking" comment.

I think to install the sport suspension at a Retailer is going to run you about $700, parts and labor included.

The thunking is now gone. The head mechanic "repositioned" the spring. I really don't know what that means, but I know the thunking is gone, and the ride is dynamite.
