Frankfurt, Germany - Perhaps the largest and most significant auto show on the European continent is the Frankfurt IAA. Held only once every other year, Frankfurt plays host to all aspects of the European car industry, from new cars and concepts to aftermarket accessories companies and scale model car manufacturers. If there is a car show not to be missed, whether car buff or car manufacturer, the Frankfurt IAA would be it.

Though not based in Sweden, Frankfurt is probably Volvo's most important show of the season for the European market. Major competitors such as BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes and more use the venue for major product launches or concept debuts. It's no surprise then that Volvo does the same.

There's no R yet, but there will be. The S60R and V70R have been all but confirmed, and are not all that far off from the PCC and PCC2. Those cars shot out in the desert, pictures of which surfaced about 2 months ago, were actual test mules. That much I have confirmed.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them debut on the show circuit sometime this winter or next spring, and in the US market by next summer.
