When I start my car in the morning it always increases rpm's and keeps it for few seconds and that is normal.
But sometimes when I start car in the morning, rpm increases and about at +-1000 it feels like it hangs a bit for a part of second (really fast) and goes back to normal cold idle 1300-1400...
It feels like engine struggles a bit at that point. But it happens really fast.

Other times it starts normally, rpm jumps to high idle without any interruption. It happens only when car sat for all night.
No error codes. Maybe it's normal ?

I wouldn’t worry about it. My car seems to do the same thing as yours.

The cold idle on our S80 occasionally "hunts" a bit.

In the absence of any driveability issues or CEL codes I wouldn't worry about it.

I think it is to help bring the cats up to operating temperature.
