Well...just yesterday I bought my dad's 01 S60 T5 from him. We put an intake on it...and a full exhaust.
Other than the lowering springs and the R wheels, it is bone stock. Now..it isn't by any means a slow car...but I want a little more power.

I don't have a HUGE budget either because I start college come september.

So can anyone give me some suggestions for upgrades I can look at for a little extra power?

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it.

Unitronic tune will run you about $650-$700. Huge difference and I'm sure you'll like it. Any tune is a good buy though and can be purchased for around $1000.

Drive around a '93 850 for 5 years, and then try to say that your T5 is slow...

I rarely tell people not to mod - BUT if you are starting college in the fall then DON'T.

You wont drive the car much and that 1k will come in handy for other things.

Good advice, I learned that the hard way.

he said.... "it isn't by any means a slow car", so he isn't saying it's slow.

Yeah, I'm sure he wants a "little more power" for things other than speed...
Maybe he's planning for that big trailer he'll be hauling up to school!

Cars are a terrible investment. Focus more on keeping it running and doing minor labor jobs yourself to learn and save money. Focus less on mods and ridiculous accessories you will later regret buying.

I guess you're right....I am taking the car to college...and its a 9 hour drive. I just wanted a little more power so when I'm driving down the back roads the smile on my face will be bigger then it is now.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming you would be living at home and commuting or something!

I have all the money I need for the first year of school. $1000 isn't barely anything.

My dad's owned the car since it had 20,000 miles on it..and he's never driven it in snow or anything..so it's in mint condition and perfect for modifying.

I'm not going to make it some crazy ass race car..just something a little more exciting for street driving.

So, "$1000 isn't barely anything"... towards the cost of college?
