Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help me with this.
I'm trying to find the pinouts of the blue Hirose connector on the RTI screen so that I can power it independently and use it as a screen for a car computer. I have the pinouts of the grey connector but can't find any information on the blue one.
Thanks
Peter

Re: Volvo RTI Screen connections (pborlace)

Here is a website from a (former?) swedespeeder that you might find helpful:
http://volvo.kalb.org/

If you wish to use the monitor without external Navi, you should know - there are some difficulties. To activate and lift the screen, Navi unit must send the command to the monitor. Without Navi unit the screen does not start.
Now I am looking for an opportunity to synthesize this command.

Yes, you can drive the screen up and down through a switch. But it is not sufficient. Also you must power on the circuit of the screen. And you can do it if you know what the code should be submitted at the entrance pin #4 of the gray Hirose connector - serial bus control (2400 bps). Without this signal the screen will not show. Now I have no answers , but I hope to get it soon.

Thanks for the information, I hadn't anticipated that. I suppose we need someone with the full system to hook up a pc and find out what codes are being sent. The other option would be to replace the screen with a third party one.
Peter

The resolution might be better too. You also wouldn't be plagued by having to use PAL.

Yes, you are right. We need to help of the owner a car with a full Navi set.
Maybe he able to record code on computer. And when I get it, I can make analysis. Then I can program the PIC-controller, and use that signals when I required. But now I do not have nearby car with Navi. This devices is not popular in my country because Volvo has no cards for Russia.

Отличная работа! Особенно то, что управление смонтирован в кнопке!
Вы не можете рассказать о процессе подробнее?

Greate! Nicely done. How are you planning to connect PC to the monitor. I have carputer in my car for almost 2 years and didn't figure out how to connect pc directly. I have it connected through the IMIV. Everything is fine, but to brows internet is a nightmare.

Used a DPDT relay and added my own limit switches for the down and up positions. When car is off, unit is down, and not drawing any power. Apply 12v and unit goes up.
I didn't use it for a carPC though. I also removed everything from the top part and mounted a Garmin Nuvi 5000 inside and now I also have a reverse backup camera.
