Volvo Polestar Racing is going to field the most merited driver line-up ever for the 2015 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship with drivers Thed Björk, Fredrik Ekblom and Prince Carl Philip.

”We are proud to confirm the strongest ever driver STCC line-up and we have a clear goal set for the 2015 season: to become the first ever team to claim three consecutive STCC drivers’ and teams’ titles,” said Christian Dahl, CEO of Polestar.

The drivers represent no less than six STCC titles, with Björk and Ekblom equal on three titles each, a number never before being represented in a STCC team.

”We have a bullish but realistic goal for the 2015 STCC, something enabled by having the very best, both in terms of drivers and every single person in the team. With that said, we are in no way taking anything for granted, the competition from other teams in the very top is just as last year going to be very tough,” said Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Motorsport Commercial Director of Volvo Cars.

Volvo Polestar Racing claimed the drivers’ and teams’ title in the 2014 STCC with Björk scoring his second straight title and Ekblom securing the bronze position. The contracts for Björk and Ekblom have been extended to new multi-year deals, with Prince Carl Philip continuing on his third year of the existing contract.

”I am really pleased with extending my contract with Volvo Polestar Racing, there is no team I would rather be with. My goal is firmly set on taking a third straight STCC title, something no other STCC driver has accomplished,” said Björk.

”I am more than happy to continue with Volvo Polestar Racing and I want revenge after my 2014 STCC result which did not reflect my true speed. I am driving flat out to move up two spots in the championship this year, number one is as always my goal,” said Ekblom.

”My goal for 2014 was to score top ten finishes consistently and I managed that in more than half of the races. 2015 will be my third year in the STCC and I look forward to the challenge together with Volvo Polestar Racing. My goal is to break into the top ten of the championship standings,” said prince Carl Philip.

Volvo Polestar Racing takes part in the 2015 V8 Supercars parallel to the STCC programme, with Scott McLaughlin and David Wall as drivers in cooperation with Garry Rogers Motorsport.
