I was wondering if anyone has traded in there lease, while halfway through the lease contract, and negotiated a new deal with the company?
I ask because my brother was at Acura with his TSX, and they offered him to lease him the new TSX and he would turn in his current TSX with no penalties or such, just as long as he leases another Acura.
I am wondering, because, unfortunately, I have become tired of my 2006 S40, and would kill to get into a C30. I am 27 months into my 48 month lease. Everyday I drive past my local Volvo dealer on my way to school, and I just stare at the C30's in the lot (and the nice heico packaged 2006 S40).

Re: Volvo lease trade in (s40goalie)

They probably did that because the new TSX is SOOO FUGLY!!!
But seriously; Mercedes-Benz has a lease acceleration program where if you are a current MB lessee and want to lease a new MB, they will accelerate or waive some or all of the remaining payments on the existing lease.
I have had a good bit of luck with trading in leases (breaking even= defined by trading in previous lease for new lease and getting down payment BACK). As I lease SUV's; the current economic climate has made me $10k upside down on my lease so I can't do my usual lease trade-in trick.
Most importantly, which bank is your S40 lease with? That may tell you whether this is possible or not.

Yes which bank or leasing company did you go through. If you go through them again they will probably be willing to work with you because that means they get another 48 month contract with you.

I'm not sure what bank the lease is with; my father did all the negotiations on the car and it is under his name (I am only 19, about to turn 20). I may be heading in the wrong direction, but I recall hearing something about Ford credit or something, if that's even associated with the bank stuff.

Sounds like you did it with Primus or Volvo Finance (both are subsidiaries of Ford Credit).
There are a few problems with that scenario........
1.) there are no lease incentives on the S40/V50/C30 as Volvo loses money on these cars in the US.
2.) check out http://www.leasecompare.com and see what banks have the best residuals on the C30.
3.) as a factor of both 1.) and 2.) the lease payment for a C30 will be close to, equivalent to, OR maybe more than that of a S80. This is before rolling over the balance of the S40 lease. It sucks, I know.
Your best option would be to try to get someone to assume the S40 lease by advertising it on http://www.swapalease.com or http://www.leasetrader.com and then start with a blank slate from there instead of worrying about trading in/lease balance, etc.

So it was leased through the dealership and their bank it sounds like. If that is the case then they might be willing to work with you. Hell even if you just go in there yourself and start asking questions ask someone to punch numbers. If it doesn't look or sound right then no pressure to do anything.

And FYI I got a ton of lease incentives going through autoflex leasing. I was offered about the same deal on the S40 as I could have gotten on the C30. I pay 400 dollars a month, 60 month lease, 15000 miles/year with no down payment (was short on cash).

My deal , not sure how good of a deal it was, is:
Leased in July of 2006. 2006 S40 2.4i w/ select package (premium upgraded audio, leather seats, moonroof, wood trim). I pay $300 a month (zero down) with 12000 miles a year .....

Well I am definitely no expert but that seems reasonable. I would expect though that if you get a T5 your payment will go up.

At $300/mo, if that includes the use tax; I would just keep it. That's a pretty good price.
I do a bunch of business with Autoflex Leasing. Not exactly scum; but not exactly prime.

I guess I'll find out in 4 and a half years. For me it fit my budget and it got me the car I wanted. Now, I am only 24 and certainly open to advice about leasing/buying etc! Well minus the fact that a car is a depreciating asset and not financially smart in the first place but I wanted a new car dang it!!!
What else could you lease (or buy) for 400 a month that would compare and/or be better? Of course that is subjective but I am curious.

How about a new sport sedan (is that the category the S40 falls in? I forget). They might call it a compact sports sedan.

You can get a G35 Sedan for under 400$ zero down. My buddy just got a IS250 with 2 grand down for 320 a month.

The S40 falls into the Leggy GT, TSX, A3 bucket.
Anyway, only YOU have to be happy with it......but understand the deal you are in.

I am definitely happy with it! I will have to go reread my lease agreement when I get home though. Live and learn if I didn't get as good of a deal as I thought.
Thanks for the info guys!
