So, Volvo didn't win any of the categories. But they got two "also try" votes.
Winding road issue 48 http://wrmag.nextautos.com/issue/48 has an article entitled 2009 Functional Vehicle Awards, where they award, you guessed it, functional vehicles in certain categories. And while no Volvos won, they were mentioned as "also try" in two categories: Best to look at (winner CTS Wagon, also try XC60) and Most Comfortable (winner BMW X5 Xdrive 35d, also try Volvo XC70).
Way to go!

Re: Volvo Gets a "bit" of respect - Winding Road's 2009 Functional Vehicle Awards (Needsdecaf)

That is too funny. An X5 winning in the "most comfortable" category? The ride of that vehicle is anything but comfortable. My long ago Ford Festiva with over 200k miles on it had a more comfortable ride than the X5's that I have been in. An X5 will out handle and out hustle a lot of sport sedans, but comfort? My backside begs to differ. The real winner is either the Caddy or the XC
