The Volvo Factory in Goteborg, Sweden will be closed to tours from Monday, July 13, 2015 through Friday, August 14, 2015. During this time Overseas Delivery cars will still be delivered to customers in Goteborg but there will not be any tours of the Volvo Factory. Instead customers may explore the Volvo Cars Brand Experience Centre. At the Volvo Cars Brand Experience Centre visitors see, hear and learn about the long history of Volvo and its holistic commitment to safety and the environment around the world. Tours of the factory will resume on Monday, August 17, 2015.

William, if somone wanted to pickup a 2016 V60 in very early September what would be a realistic deadline to set up and complete the paperwork (knowing that 16 specs and prices are not out yet).

Curt,

You may submit a Volvo Overseas Delivery order as far out as six months from order date to factory delivery date. So if you would like to take advantage of provisional price protection on a 2016 V60 via Overseas Delivery an order could be submitted now. Please let me know if you are ready to place your order.

Since July 13 is the first delivery date for the new XC90, that seems like a strange time to close down the factory. It seems like Volvo would have given those early XC90 overseas delivery customers the chance to see the factory. That's a little disappointing.

Is the center open to OSD customers outside of those dates (i.e. in addition to the factory tour)?
Yes, but you will have to make arrangements.

The factory, annual summer closure, is pre-determined. The launching of a new vehicle is also predicated upon logistics, production slots, etc. This was a convergence of factors that resulted in this; the only other choice would have been to not make the XC90 available for delivery until late August which would have disappointed even more people.

Sorry to bump this up -

Yannis, how does one make the arrangements to get a factory tour/Experience pass? Google was no help. We will be in Sweden this summer and a trip to Gothenburg is already planned!
