These pics are rendered, maybe based on 009 interior. The latest screen from Geely is one yard wide, in E8 and RoboTaxi 1. Dare they use it for EM90?
No. It's either the same screen as the Zeekr009 or the portrait screen from the EX90. Volvo and Polestar seem to rebrand from Zeekr for some reason, not other Geely brands. At least so far.

I think it's either just Volvo materials over the 009 interior (most likely), or a just slightly modified EX90 interior (most desirable IMO).

Bodywork doesn't really scream Volvo, does it? Are those repurposed/repainted Zeekr wheels?

Interior dash could likely mimic this-

And I can't wait to see what happens with these -

All this warrants another Saabaru - the 9-6X.

In one of the teasers you can see the B&W center dash speaker, same as on the Polestar 3 and EX90. Maybe some patent leaks of interior or sketches will come out before Nov 12.

Most of all, more and more people perceive Volvo as "they're now Chinese?", that's why a new Volvo like this even supports that narrative. Not good for the brand. And I don't understand why Volvo makes such a fuss about the EM90 in the west. Why can't they just quietly introduce it in China, like they did with the S90 L (and the Polestar 4 😁)?

Resding the response on the EM90 here in Sweden on their home market what you said is obvious.
Even though it will never sell here it has had big impact on the Volvo brand.

And talking to the people working here at Volvo they feel the same. There is zero emotional relation from them to this car since there was zero involvement from Sweden.

EX30 is a lot better received even though Swedish involvement where minimal outside of design. They have lessons to learn from these two cars.

I wonder if EX30 isn't much riskier to the brand than EM90? Its interior environment seems clearly a step down to me, will it be seen as a 'cheap Chinese Volvo' broadly across its many markets?

EX30 was designed and engineered in Sweden by Volvo.

Yes it uses the SEA platform developed by Geely but with Volvo’s involvement too.

The perception of Volvo as Chinese has to do with Geely ownership only and maybe some shared tech with other Geely brands. But Volvo has steadily bought out cars that kept their core design and qualities. The EM90 is an exception.

The thing is, Volvo is still doing its own thing and is highly Sweden based. I just read that Volvo opened up a tech center in Gothenburg. They also have tech R&D work in Poland and Singapore. While they have some China-based operations, some plants, and the design center in Shanghai, they have a lot of other things outside of China. And the management is solidly based in Sweden.

The EM90 is just something Volvo didn't seem to put that much care into as a design. So, I agree that they should keep it quiet and make it a China-based product. Hopefully Sping 24 shows a very Volvo looking next-gen ES90 or whatever is the next vehicle they're coming out with.

I disagree. I think it shows solid interior design that's the next step for Volvo. And let's please not rehash the no driver's display and the window switches. In terms of materials used and sustainability, low carbon footprint, and how they've modernized the XC40's look, the EX30 has a very strong Volvo identity to it and you can tell Volvo, although cost aware, really sweated the details to make it efficient and very much in the spirit of Volvo design. And nothing about it looks "Chinese." It's too understated and not tech forward and full of gadgets that Chinese brands often showcase. And the color palette is very much Volvo as well.

I think the EX30 is a nice affordable Volvo, looks like a Volvo, and has great performance. It may sell quite well if not in North America, in Europe and places where they like smaller vehicles.

Well you're the one that just called it out. So its on you this time.

I can repost the identical specs between EX30, Zeekr X, and Smart #1 if you'd like to deny that again.

The EX30 is probably riskier for the brand, at least in the US, because it's the only one of the two that we'll see here.

I do think it will sell well as long as it's competitively priced with other small EV's on the market. A little disappointing with the larger than normal upcharge for the dual motor and no core offering for that car. I think that's what I read.
