The Volvo V70 has won Auto Express magazine's best 'Estate' for the second year running in its annual 'New Car Honours' announced today, which is just one of many awards the V70 and Volvo's latest, stylish range has received so far this year.

Auto Express also commended the Volvo S80 in the 'Executive Car' category, while in its recent 'Used Car Honours 2001' the V70 scooped the 'Estate Car' award for no less than the fourth year in succession, plus the S80 was commended in the 'Executive Car' category again, too.

"We're delighted with the host of awards Volvo's received so far this year," said Gerry Keaney, managing director of Volvo Car UK Limited, "The combination of Volvo's traditional values of quality, safety and practicality together with its desirable new style and design is proving a winning formula and further enhancing Volvo's class leading reputation," he continued.

Volvo not only won the 'Estate' category of Diesel Car magazine's 'Diesel Car of the Year Awards 2001' with the V70, but took a runner-up position for its V40 as well.

What Car? magazine's annual awards bestowed the V70 with the 'Estate Car of the Year' accolade for the second year running.

And Volvo has received awards from the corporate world, too, with the V70 winning the 'Estate Car' category at Fleet World magazine's annual awards and jointly from Fleet Week, Fleet Car Business, and Business Car magazines at their annual 'Fleet Excellence' awards.

Volvo's new, stylish S60 compact executive saloon has also been in the winning spotlight again at the Northern Ireland's 'Maxol Car of the Year Awards 2001' which voted the S60 best 'Executive Car' as well as runner-up for its 'Car of the Year'.

Volvo has also collected an environmental prize. The C70 coupe 2.4T won the 'Sports/Coupe' category and the S60 2.0T claimed the runner-up position in the annual 'Green Apple' awards presented by the Environmental Transport Association in conjunction with the Green Organisation.

Finally, Volvo's RYA Youth Sailing Programme conquered high profile premier league football sponsorships such as the Axa FA Cup and the FA Carling Premiership when it was awarded the prestigious 'Hollis Sports Sponsorship Award 2001'.
