S90 V90 V90CC deserves some more sale. But because they are small volume, dealer don't want to stock them, then they sell even less. A loop to death.

You are right, though not a big surprise and we all know how this story ends unfortunately.

On a happier note, it's great to see the breadth of Volvo's offerings showing consistent growth even in a so-so economic environment.

S60 looking very good. Sales are near where the old S60 were at it's height, and hopefully headed upwards.

Kind of fun reading the sale figures for this month knowing my S60 increased the count by one! :)

Volvo Cars reports 12.4 per cent sales growth in May
Jun 04, 2019 ID: 254172

Volvo Cars posted strong sales in May, with volumes up 12.4 per cent compared with the same period last year.

The company sold 60,196 cars during the month, as China, Europe and the US all reported a growth in sales compared with the same period last year.

The double digit volume growth in May was led by the continued strong demand for Volvo’s award-winning SUV range led by the XC60, and followed by the XC40 and XC90. Volvo’s latest models, the V60 estate and the US-built S60 sedan, also contributed to the strong performance.

In the January to May period, Volvo sold a total of 278,051 cars – up 9.6 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

China reported a strong sales growth of 17.4 per cent in May compared with the same period last year. Total sales in the region reached 12,425 cars during the month. The growth came on the back of high demand for the locally assembled XC60 and S90 models.

European sales in May grew 16.9 per cent to 29,681 cars, led by strong demand for the XC60, followed by the XC40 and the V60 estate.

US sales reached 9,761 cars in May, up 4.5 per cent compared with the same period last year. XC90 was the best selling car in the region followed by the XC60.

A detailed break-up of regional sales is given below:

In May, the XC60 was the top selling model with sales reaching 17,510 cars (2018: 16,171), followed by the XC40, with total sales at 10,574 cars (2018: 5,413 units), and the Volvo XC90 at 8,621 cars (2018: 7,979 units).

Saloon buyers are old-fashion car buyers who usually don't care about new brands, new models, etc. They stick to what they like from twenty years ago till the rest of the life.

Don't worry, german saloons don't sell well here either.

US car buyers are and have been for some time in full infatuation mode with SUVs, CUVs, and pretty much anything that's jacked up and looks rough and ready. ;)

S90 supply is limited due to the ongoing trade war, its no surprise the numbers are suppressed, not just simply "down"
But the XC60 seems to be selling rather well even though Volvo lost its China tariff appeal to the US Trade Representative. Apparently, like the Buick Envision, it must be part of China's "Made in China 2025."

It is odd. I’ve had a lot of cars in 53 years. And I’ve never had so many people want to look at my V90 and ask questions. The last gent in a newish Mercedes actually followed me for awhile in Tacoma the other day. When I stopped at my destination, he parked nearby and asked if he could look at the car. After letting him sit in the car for a bit he was very complimentary and asked a bunch of questions. He’d never seen a V90 (or CC) and was quite impressed with the design aesthetics and features.

Go figure.

But they still can't persuade the several hundred dealers in this country to keep a demo V90 in house. Instead, VCUSA explicitly recommend to not have V90 in stock, but custom order only, without a show car to let people take a look first.

XC60 production for US has been moved back to Sweden.

I heard Seattle Volvo had one in stock, until a guy came into special order one. He didn’t believe that they actually had one at first, but he bought that car and took it home. Sort of rare...

Still, odd to me that Volvo makes this great car, but doesn’t seem interested in doing a bit of marketing. Weird.

Oddly enough, I try to stock them but they literally sell right when they arrive. I am working on having a MY20 V90 T6 AWD Inscription on hand as well as an R-Design.
