Volvo Car USA is onboard for this event in 2019

I am at the S60 launch here in CA and spoke with Volvo Car USA's main person at the plant. She is aware of this event and are totally on board. They need at least six months to plan, which they should have if this happens next summer.

There is a 1.5 mile driveway in front of the plant and another 3mile road leading to the plant. The driveway will offer great photo ops with the Volvo sign and various flags as back drops. There would be some logistics around hotels in Charleston but there are some that could handle 700 or so attendees, probably more with spouses and families.

We need to nail down a date. The UK record attempt is in March - perhaps some time in June, July or August when kids are out of school.

That’s very encouraging! I have family in SC albeit a few hours away but that would work well.
edit: just checked and I'd be 1.5 hours away. I'm in, depending on time of year. Needs to be almost perfect, though - I have a senior in HS and this is a big year...

Do late July. I am going to Le Mans next year and will be gone most of that month. And will have to catch up when I get back. Lol

Very exciting news Chris.

There are many options and opinions, but as I mentioned in the other threads, getting Volvo USA on board, and having them as an active participant is the way forward.

The facility in SC is ideal, just as many other location across the country are.

And everybody has a personal reason for it to be, or not to be, in SC. As noted by the "personal" comments here on these threads, but we need to look at this from a logistical point of view. And having Volvo Participate and offering "6 months to plan" speaks volumes. That's logistical support in addition to the efforts Chris and the rest of us, the SwedeSpeed community, can add.
If the anti-Trump retaliatory China tariffs holds, Volvo Charleston will stop exporting S60 to China, trim planned hiring by half:

Might not be the most appropriate place for USA Volvo suits to celebrate Volvos next summer. It'll be grim AF, as it already is for BMW USA.
Sometime in Mid June or July works for me. I would be glad to hop on board with this. Pm me with any restrictions there are.
I live in Miami, FL but would totally be down for this. Hell it's a great reason for a roadtrip and visiting the HQ!
I'm def interested... with one or more!
I'm in for two. Making a family trip out of it, and staying with family:thumbup:
Tracking. I would be interested. Have family in SC, so lodging isn't an issue for me.
Definitely interested! It's just shy of 3 hours from me, so I could make a day trip out of it. It would definitely be cool!
subscribing ! I would be interested in being part of this ! depending on the date (mostly cause of other planned trips )

Are there any more details? Have one wagon.
Bueller, Bueller, Bueller . . . Does anyone have any more details on this event? Is it going to happen this Summer?

Crap, I guess I'm out.

Last week in July is the busiest week of my entire year at work.
