TORONTO - The Volvo S60 sports sedan and rugged Cross Country models helped power Volvo car sales ahead 23.8 per cent for the month of February, Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. announced here today.<BR>Volvo retailers sold 577 new cars during the month, an increase from the 466 units sold in the same period of 2000. The strong February followed a buoyant January, driving year-to-date sales to 1,010 units, an increase of 40.5 per cent from the 719 cars sold in the same period last year.<P>The new S60 and Cross Country models were particularly strong performers as supply of the popular cars began to reach retailers.<P>"The S60 and Cross Country represent very different market segments, yet both are strong performers in a market that seems to favour premium models," explained Paul Cummings, president of Volvo Cars of Canada. "Even the exotic C70 models showed renewed consumer interest."<P>Volvo automobiles are sold and serviced through 42 retailers across Canada. Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. is headquartered in Toronto.
