Check out www.volvotuning.com for links to companies that make chips for the 850. You won't gain as much as a turbo model, however. A 2.5" free flow exhaust will also help. If IPD makes sway bars for a '93 850, they will improve the handling quite a bit.

If I had a black 850, I'd tint the windows to about 30-35% (not too dark) and lower it a little. For wheels, you've got the oddball 4x108mm bolt pattern that no other year of 850 used, so you can't use any of the 17" 850 wheels. That may also limit your selection in the aftermarket. Depending on what you're willing to spend and what you like, there are some BBS wheels that would look very nice on a black 850 (RC, RX, RK, etc). I think a multi-spoke wheel like the BBS RX would look great in either chrome or anthracite w/polished lip. Of course it all depends on what YOU want, but remember that 17 & 18 inch wheels can hurt performance if there's a great enough increase in unsprung weight.

My favorite look for taillights is half red/half tinted, but it's definitely a personal touch. You could also add some clear side markers and tint those too.

If you want some more ideas, check out www.volvonet.org/tpc and go to the "other rides", "galleries", and "meetings" sections. Under the galleries section, you'll find the best pictures in the "Vallåkra Träffen" sections (major annual Volvo car show in Sweden).

Must be a joke! But different strokes for different folks. Sounds to much like a bad dream for a Volvo owner to see. These cars are great for mods but that will cross the line with a few of the items on his wish list, my advice get a Honda!

Puhahaha...i'm sorry, do you really talk like that in real life? It just sounds very colorful...we don't mean to be rude or anything, it's just that your taste is a bit off than what most Volvo owner might consider 'cool.'

No worry, tho...I've seen some more sorry looking ideas on Hondas. There's nothing wrong to be different...as long as you like it and willing to spend money on it. If you are not someone who just have too much time in his hand and just tries to come up here and stirs up something; but really looking for some advice on how to make your car look like......that, then I doubt many of us would be able to help you.

After few months of participating this forum, I think I have a good idea on fellow members' tastes. So, by all means, we are not jealous...hey more power to you if you want to make your volvo look like......that.

All I can say is to wish you best of luck.

If you want to make a Volvo look like a Honda, you won't find many people who share the same goal. So if you want those ugly Altezza taillights, you probably won't find them for a Volvo. I don't even know if any type of taillight for the 850 is available in the aftermarket. That's why I suggested a more subtle red/tint combination which you can do yourself for very little money.

That picture you posted of the engine is showing a strut tower brace, and that specific one looks to be custom made. You can get an OMP brace from CFI Motorsports, and IPD probably has one too. SAM might sell one and Cherry Turbos is probably working on one if they haven't already made it available. It works to connect the strut towers to reduce flex in the front suspension, and it really does work. They're about $100-$200 and should be easy to install.

I don't know which exhaust system will offer the best power increase or the best sound, but Supersprint is probably a good choice if they make one for your car (check with CFI Motorsports). You could also get a custom exhaust made with the muffler of your choice.

You can get headlight eyebrows from Hova if that's something you're interested in. You can also get a body kit and eyebrows from brickstylz.com.

If you want the address for any of these places, see my links page below or do a search. A search engine like www.google.com can lead you to a LOT of cool sites.

Hey...I'm Chinese~! I can start making some money by doing these writing and stuff. Hehehe..I'll just put anything, you won't even know the difference.

I'll put.."I Like Kong Pao Chicken" or something.
J/K...j/k.....

But I think you'd actually consider those Japanese characters than Chinese ones. It's funny how I see many people with tattoos with some funny characters that doesn't really make much sense in Chinese. Or some of them were not even written/done correctly...

I can't comment politely on the rest of the modifications - since I have a R, most of the detailing has been done at Goteborg in any case.

However, the strut brace is an excellent idea and will take about 7 minutes to fit, just don't tighten any of the nuts until all of them are threaded, or you'll be undoing things to get the bar into place.

The car now turns in precisely with none of the front wheel scrabble it used to have - and that will go double for the taller tyres on the GLT.

However, a word of caution about lowering; my standard R grounds its spoiler on car park ramps sometimes so I've resisted the urge to drop it any further.

An ultra-low car looks great until you hit the first ramp or speed bump and then the road is covered in a lot of very expensive broken fibreglass and plastic!

yeah, you've got a point simon, i have a 96 t-5, stock it was fairly low, and now it is about 2" lower than stock. I live in FL, and last night there was a huge puddle outside my friend's house, NOT GOOD, I had to basically swim through it. O well, it looks good in the dry!

For the strut brace Volvo has one go to a dealer and look at the parts dept bulletin #25 under sport, the road holding/lowering kit top of the list p/n for the strut bar 9204176 but the # on my bar on the car is 9204207. Check it out, and I to will not be jealous, its all good man. I have the bar and plan to lower the car and put the Ohlins kit all around with all parts from Volvo. And the only lights to change on mine will be the front corner markers to euro spec.

I know who talks the same, I just saw him on the weekend in Star Wars Episode 1. Anyone else know who it is?
