Ooops on the title, sorry! I figured I'd start another thread for my Volture Wagon. Had a thread on Volvospeed but I was inactive for a long time and it was closed.

So to introduce myself I'm Cyrus. I've had my Vo since I was 17 and can't seem to let go, so I continue to modify it. The nickname comes from the fact it has been totaled twice and naturally looks pretty ugly in the front. The goal is to have a sleeper style, street legal race car. Racing along the lines of autocross to be more specific.

I've done some simple mods to the car. For example..
-B5254T2-R engine swap
-16T Turbo swap
-Snabb Pipe Kit
-OBX Down Pipe, into a Flowmaster dual side exit system. Currently only 80 percent complete=(
-Green Giant Injectors
-Tune by JZW
-Slotted R brake system.
-AEM fuel pump(installing currently)
-And lastly a custom built intercooler setup which is what I'll start this thread with.

And the car..

That dual side exit exhaust has been taking forever, I want to hear it rip.

:D
Yes, I need to get on that! So much to do and so little time to do it sometimes. I have all the parts sitting around but damn if I ever get around too it.
Even as it is the car produces an amazingly muscular sounding exhaust note, unlike any Volvo 5 banger I've heard, though it's a bit loud and heading on the verge of obnoxious=P Hopefully finishing it will reduce the number of dirty looks I get whilst driving around;)

Yay, pumps in! Super easy install too!

Got just a bit carried away while on the pump, whoops!

After shedding 200+lbs the fender gap is ridiculous now=(

Also had an issue with the Green Giant injectors I just purchased for the car. Did a sonic cleaning and found 2 of the 5 to be toast. Kinda weird for some with only 84k miles:confused:
2 brand new ones on the way though, so hopefully I get to test my new JZW tune for the first time=)

Car looks awesome, love the color choice!

Any chance you could post a pic of the front bumper? I'm not getting enough air flow through the xc bumper for the intercooler and just today was looking at where to cut. What you did there looks good from what I can see.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe this helps?
I used the extra plastic to cut out the extra pieces(white)I used a large iron, mesh, and a heat gun to weld the plastic. Make sure the plastic is SUPER clean. Contaminants will ruin the process.

I received my injectors yesterday after about a weeks wait. The car now runs fantastic, kudos to JZW for some fine work. I do have one issue and that is that there is SERIOUS lag at the beginning. Unlikely due to the tune as it was an issue from the beginning of the swap, I'm figuring it's either timing, wastegate adjustment, or the chambered muffler I have installed. Hopefully I can remedy the issue soon, but here is a video of the sound from the inside. And yes, it is floored. Pesky lag=(

Great job on the bumper modification! Matching the dimensions to reuse part of what you cut out seems like it could've been quite challenging! Well done.

Thanks! It certainly had its challenges, and there definitely some things I would do different next time around. But all in all it worked out pretty well=)

Creativity seems to multiply when you have a car that couldn't get any worse, something that works out the way it's supposed to is just a plus=)
I'm glad you like it, I've been stalking your thread too. Neet deal you have going there, love the look of lifted XC's=)

Played around with my exhaust a bit today, cut out most of the pieces but I'm having difficulty positioning the tips properly, may just have a better equipped shop do it for me.
Also working on a stereo delete, which I'll include a picture of=)

Also a picture of my very conservative engine bay. Basicly painted all chrome pipes and band clamps with VHT Wrinkle paint. Has a very factory appearance to it.

i think the bumper modification might be too difficult because at the moment I don't want to paint the plastic. Thanks for the pics though.

On a side note, while waiting to rebuild my R I was driving the donor XC around. Just for ****s and giggles I swapped some stuff over like the suspension and brakes, lowered suspension with the longer xc lca's wore my tires out quite quickly so I swapped that back. However, I left on the R airbox and MAF which sounded fantastic. Just had to fab up a coupler to the intake pipe.

When in doubt a little plasti dip can do wonders, just saying;)

Your XC sounds awesome! You're clearly a lot further in your build than I am. I really need to put more effort into the handling of my car, hate that nasty boat feeling=(
How did you keep your R maf? That's really weird that it didn't mess with your car bad 0-o

Played around some more today.

Almost finished with the exhaust, tip is just a mockup though.

Opened up the grill a little with the saw, looks neat but had an unfortunate collision with the blade and radiator. Guess I was due for a new one anyways=P
Thinking of doing a black beehive mesh on the grill after I repaint the bumper.

Not an XC, just looks like an XC which between you and I is an improvement.

The maf plugged right in no issues at all.

IPD sway bars, best place to start. The rear sways on the XC are almost comical.

Yeah I been frustrated by the boat feeling a bit too. Even stock, The engine is really lively, but the handling leaves a lot to be desired. I'll be doing the IPD sways and sub frame inserts pretty soon and have already done the IPD strut brace conversion. You have any thoughts along those lines if you haven't done em already?

I wholeheartedly agree, damn that's a fine looking car! =))
Subi front splitter?
I'm definitely looking at Bars, more than likely my next mod actually. I know what you mean on the bar, You can literally twist it by hand haha.

Yeah drives my crazy hopping out of the Volvo and into my Bimmer which has its handling down to the letter. If I could get even half that nice of handling I'd be overjoyed!
I'm looking at the same mods you're thinking of, with the addition of coilovers, and R lower arms, but I don't think you want to head that direction anyways. I do have an IPD front bar laying around if you have need of it? Decided to go for the Elavate front bar as I needed the adjustability for autocross.

Autocross? Turn those fog lights into brake cooling ducts...

The lip is the R lip that I bought before my accident and fortunately didn't install. It needed a lot of cutting on the xc bumper and still needs some tweaking but it looks cool.
