So I traded my XC90 a couple weeks ago to a Volvo dealer. I was surprised to learn my VOC app remained live through the vehicle’s subsequent sale. I could even follow the new owner who apparently drove several hundred miles to the dealership. Isn’t the dealer supposed to reset everything?

I have deleted my VOC app. But perhaps a warning for anyone who purchases a used Volvo you may want to check this out so any previous owner can’t follow you, unlock doors, use remote start.

You should’ve clicked end ownership from the VOC.

This will hunt you for a long time.

Even Volvo customer service can’t fix this.

Try to reinstall VOC and end ownership if you can.

When the car is added to a new VoC account, is it not removed from old account if owner doesn't allow another account?

The first thing I did when I bought my XC90 was call Volvo and have them delete any accounts with access to the car, and add my access. It took about three minutes, and I can verify it worked.

That I don't know

But what I do know that it stays in your VOC account resources and linked vehicles unless you properly end ownership.

I'm only referencing that cause it created a lot of issues for me and showed Incorrect vehicle location ( I had two and ended ownership of one inaccurately unfortunately)

Imagine you wake up and trying to start your car, then it shows vehicle in use.

Then you check VOC and the location, it states New York while you're living in Seattle.

Long story short. Had to delete the old VOC account and creat a totally new one with a new email just to work around the issue as it couldn't be solved.

And vehicle is still showing in my vehicle resources of the old VOC account.

I understand what you're saying.

Yet they can't delete the accounts without the consent of the account's owners.

They can only revoke access to your vehicle from previous accounts.

On the other hand The issue will be with the old owner if he:
1) got a new Volvo with VOC.
2) didn't end ownership properly for the old vehicle.

I'm confused how this is an issue. If the previous owner has had their access revoked, they cannot see any detail on the vehicle, to include location/lock state/etc. What exactly is the problem? If they buy a Volvo in the future, and fire up VOC, they shouldn't see any information related to the old vehicle, as they have no access.
