Hello Everyone.<br>I am a proud owner of a 2008 s40<br>I bought it early March.<p>My last 2 cars are 1991 740 5 door 139,000<br>and 1987 740 4 door GL 289,000<p>Great forum!<p>I need to change oil.<p>Any word on the size of torx (it is a torx, right) on that under carriage panel that hides the drain plug?<br>What else should I know about the oil filter, which I do not have experience with?<br>Any secrets or tricks or surprises that I should be aware of?<p>do you know what size the drain plug is?- I've heard 17mm and 18mm<p>Also does "virgin" in caps help attract perusers? <p>Thanks everyone.

Or you can buy an oil extractor and not bother taking off the under carriage panel. With the top mounted oil filter, changing oil is a breeze. Not sure if the 2.4 has the top mounted filter though. Get your oil filters from Boston Volvo...a 10 pack is reasonably priced.

Seven- I've wondered about doing what you suggest and should do some research. Seems to me that the "gush" that comes w/ traditional drainage would carry w/ it the <br>most sediment and debris. I'm afraid that extracting it would leave more junk. I don't know- I'd have to read up on it. The idea sure seems hugely appealing.

Drain from the bottom and let it drip for at least an hour.<p>The only problem with this is that with ALL the old dirty oil out it is very hard to read the dipstick for a few weeks with the clear new oil. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/wink.gif" BORDER="0">
