Not sure if some of you know but I met up with LTA last week and wehung out abit . He lent me his Belltronics accelerometer for a week cuz we did some runs together and I wanted to experiment abit. When I was with him I was hitting 0-60 in 5.6-5.8 constantly and 1/4 mile in [email protected] mph but again It was my 1st time so I did some more runs few days later and got some awesome #'s best was 5.01 and 1/4 mile in 13.6 @106 mph I had it loged in the accel I couldn't beleive those #'s. But all night I was hitting 5.2- 5.5 and 13's in the 1/4 mile. Anyways it rained here all weekend and tonight it finnaly stoped so I had a itch to do a few more runs since I am returning this accelerometer back to LTA tomorow... It was hooorible!! 0-60 in 5.9-6.2 all night and 14's in the 1/4 mile (one run hit 13.9) why is this? How can the times change so much ? Is my car losing power or can it be the weather? I am considering ipd aquamist now...

If I can do 5.0 consistently my car will be famous.

Hate to burst your bubble, but up to a full second on those times as well...thats how accurate the Bell device is, in fact C&D did a test of it sometime back against the devices they use and they found glaring differences between those reported between the "off the shelf" solutions and the ones they use.
I would imagine 6.0 is accurate given your mods.

I am not sure how the Bell device works, but if it is anything like the G-Tech Pro, then the angle at which you attach the device will have a big play in the numbers, even if it's tilted up or down the tinniest bit.

our cars are notoriously inconsistent performance wise.
one day my car is a screamer..and the next it feels a bit slow...not sure. gas, temps, humidity, heat soak...etc etc.... sometimes the car rocks..sometimes it's off it's game. it's the car.

You're trap is high for that ET, that Trap indicates high 12's with a good launch.
Odviously your 60' time is HORRIBLE, and has much room for improvement. Just get your launch down a little bit, and your right on track for 12's. I expect your 60' is about 2.2 or higher at this point. You could probably also inprove your shifting.
For comparison, bone stock i ran 13.3 @ 102 w/ a 1.88 60', and 13.4 @ 100 with a 1.9 60'. you can only imagine what a 106 trap would have netted me with a 1.7 60'.
Also FYI, AWD cars are capable of a 1.6 60' with a great driver; imagine the outcome of that one.
Practice, practice, practice. And new clutchs.
Edit: OH, and you can throw your weather theory right out the widow, because those traps indicate there was enough power being made for much lower ET's.

Re: Very bad 0-60 & 1/4 mile times tonight need explanation (KOEVo)

Humidity,Humidity,Humidity! After all of that rain the moisture in the air (if above 65 F) will kill ouR caRs. Also zigger has a GT. I have noticed almost identical drops in time with similar moisture conditions. However if the temp is below 65 F and there is high humidity then that is a good thing for ouR caRs. It's all about the give and take with the turbo. SO......enjoy these cars when they are performing well, and remember those great days of performance are countered with poor performance on those other days. Rick

I had a post several month ago about this behavior, and it's not the gas nor the heat.

Re: (stevectsai)

Also the ecu program has alot to do with the performance. I have had the BSR tune and at times it was VERY inconsistant. With the IPD stage 2 program I have now ,the inconsistancys are few and far between. Stock tunes are even WORSE and more inconsistant.

Was there another article that I missed?
The G-Tech is quite accurate right off the shelf and the Beltronics/Escort is very close behind.
My FX2 is set to 12" roll-out just like most 'real' tracks and just like most other g-timer users here (eg. R Kelly). The pitch setting is set at 2.1 (an S4 is tested at 2.0).
The important factors and facts:
- zigger's tests are all relative to my tests so comparing to 'real' 1/4 track is irrelevant (we are comparing cars with difference mods, zigger's post today compares his runs from this week to last week that's all)
- weather (it got REALLY humid here in the last coulpe days)
- calibration of the unit on a level road each time you install it is important
- using the same test road and making runs in both directions and then taking the average to account for wind and any possible slope
as for weather, C&D has a weather correction xls file for those interested in running the numbers http://www.caranddriver.com/as...r.exe (it's a self-ectracting zip file)
LTA
You should do runs in TWO directions and average your times, this will help offset any slope in the "road" and any wind.
