OOOOO! I am just so tired of macho displays of authority. On the way to work this morning, I had my car on cruise, a nice slow 100kph in the left lane as it is busy. I have a Type-R Integra infront of me and a Lexus GS 300 behind and all is good. Tunes on, etc. Well, we are passing everyone in the right lane and we happen to pass an officer of the law. I made the mistake of looking over and smiling and nodding. BIG mistake. About 2minutes later he is behind me with his lights on. I pull over as the Type-R and Lexus get away laughing. He comes up to my car and asks me for my license and reggy. He said " did you know its a $500 fine for passing a police officer on the highway?" Bull****! I said "OIfficer I had my car on cruise going 103" I even pointed to him my cruise control light on. He then said "Well the speed limit here is 100, do not ever pass an officer of the law again. Have a nice day" GRRRRRRR!!!!!!! Made me so mad!!!! It has got to be because my car is lowered Heico front Spoiler, eyebrows, so it looks mean. Why did he have to single me out. Because I acknowledged his presence. Thanks for listening guys, I feel a little better. I guess I can be thankful he let me go.... Anyone else have similar situation?

I suspect Yellowhead, since that's the only 100K limit heading into Edmonton.

that's different from my experience here in Louisiana...
when I had my modded 02 Eclipse, I got picked out of a crowd all the time. Now that I have the Volvo, I've blown by cops and never got a second look.
But still, it's Louisiana cops we're talking about. hehe

Why would you draw any attention to yourself at all?
Has nothing to do with your car -- everything to do with your actions as you were passing the cop. Never make eye contact.

it's not drawing attention... it's a d*ck cop having a bad day.
I've come across some really nice cops, but i've also come across cops who were insanely rude. It's all a gamble to which ones you see on the street.

Re: (Pez)

On the flipside of the spectrum, I had a really good experience with a cop a few years ago. I was driving on a country road in Ithaca, NY, basically speeding and enjoying the sunshine. A cop was parked on the side of the road facing the other direction. I sped past him, and then basically pulled myself over and waited for him to start his car, turn around, and drive over to me. First thing he said was how much he appreciated that I didn't make him chase me. When asked why I was speeding, I told him that I basically wasn't pay attention (the road was empty), that it was a beautiful day, and I was just enjoying the sun while driving to run an errand. I wasn't sarcastic, just honest.
Long story short - he checked my license and reg, and then let me go with a light warning. Probably a very rare occurance, but still...
I've never seen a nice trooper, but I did deal with a nice cop down here in my hometown of Vestal, probably one of 2 nice ones in the whole department.

Re: (GoBigRed)

I had a similar GOOD experience with a County Sheriff Deputy about 8 yrs ago.....I had just passed a string of slow cars on a 2-lane State highway. I had to accelerate from 50 mph to 70 to accomplish the pass (Not a problem with My old diesel pickup) and just as I came back across the center line the first car I was meeting swerved and started heading for the shoulder of the road and as I met the car I was saddened to see it was the Deputy. I slowed and pulled off the road and waited for Him to pull up behind Me. I was driving into the sun going down through a hollow when I passed the cars and My old ESCORT radar detector beeped only 2 or 3 times.
As the Deputy approached My vehicle He asked "Is THAT a radar detector? Does it even still work?" I answered "Yes, It beeped a couple times"
His reply was "Do Yourself a favor and give it to someone You hate....Drive safe and have a Nice afternoon!"
For the most part State Troopers seem to be the most arrogant when they stop You. The 60 mile all Interstate commute I make every day is becoming just one BIG speed trap.
