Vent pod complete!

3628 Views 17 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  bpray9223
Well, a couple weeks ago I decided I wanted to try to do something custom for my boost gauge. So I went and purchased a second vent to experiment with. It is now finished and installed. Heres some pictures I took along the way. Tell me what you think.

And here is what I used mostly to make it.

Haha I really dont mind the loss of one vent, I ddin't really use it much this winter anyways. And its a Glowshift.

Your HIRED!!! http://********************/smile/emthup.gif That looks great and I think that there is enough area that you could still get a little flow out of it.... If I was as talaned as you I would make ten of those and sell them for $25.00 over cost and you would probably make a killing and even better yet offer a core charge and have them send you there original in return for a little $$$ then you could make another... Good job!!! http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

If you have the open compartment next to the radio, you can put it in there. I used to have the cup holder but when to the salvage yard and pulled the open compartment from an S60.
i already have my wideband and boost guage in there. and i don't want any pods in my cluster so this would be the perfect place. and on top of that it looks so nice, almost like if it was oem.
VERY cool
Re: (Bender)

That's awesome! A+ for originality, craftsmanship, and effort.
My only criticism is the gauge. I prefer a stock looking gauge, so the install looks factory.
Re: (Tiny)

Great Job man looks real good http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Awesome. I may have to do that. Want to install me a boost gauge one of these days. Perhaps I'll try and get a smaller one so I can still get some decent airflow

+1

No one seems to understand the purpose of macro mode. Just push the button with the little flower on it!

Re: (bpray9223)

Nice job, neat approach.

Out of curiosity, what kind of glue/epoxy did you use, as mine fell apart w/ my retro-in-progress, and what kind of paint did you use to match the stock color/finish?

Actually the only thing I used was a lot of hot glue. And for matching the color of the vent, I did not paint the PVC AT ALL. the only thing I did was take fine grit sand paper to take off the lettering that was on the lip and to give it a matte finish like the vent, and after that to restore the black color I took some tire shine spray and rubbed it on the PVC piece. I'm so happy how it matched the vent color so nicely.
