I know I could call up the dealer, but I'm trying to get this part ordered tonight. It's a 2003 V70 AWD, anyone know if they came with variable assist or not? Any help is much appreciated.. If you don't know, is there any way to tell without calling up the dealer?

If it steers easy at low speeds but stiffens up at about 50 mph you have it.

Is the steering the same as your S60R?

Since it didn't come out until 2004, I doubt you have it

Only 2004 (and newer) Rs have it, Titanium V70s have it, 2007 Xc70 Adventure Series have it.. these are all 2004 cars and newer.
It became an option in 2004 but almost none but the above mentioned
V70's had it
...and, of course you can call a dealer, give them your VIN to make sure

Thanks for the input. My guess is that it doesn't have it, since majority of websites say w/o assist.

Most of the second half builds of the 2007 XC were Adventure Series
They came pretty loaded with every option except NAV, Xenons and subwoofer (or 3rd seat) which were still options
These also included the R variable steering 17" wheels and tires and I have to say, it's great in an XC
