Hi,
The Model Guide on this site is down. Is there another I can access? I thought the last model for the V70R was 2005, but apparently some 2006's were made and maybe even 2007 coming (which is irrelevent to me). Even the Volvo USA website does not list the R anymore.
I'd just like to re-educate myself on the differences in the models from year to year if any.
I will be returning to the US (SF Bay Area) in August and looking to buy a gently used AWD sports wagon for around $35k or less, preferably MT. My reasonable choices pretty much are the Volvo V70R and Audi allroad or S6 Avant. It seems like I could get more bang for the buck and a newer/lower mileage car with the Volvo.
I am familiar with Audi though. Any comments comparing an allroad to the R would be appreciated too.
Also, Autotrader does not let you search by V70R? You have to read through the V70 ads? Goes to show how much PR this car gets - part of why I like it.
Thanks

Re: V70R info online??? (TimB)

The current V70R has been built from MY 2004-2006. There was not supposed to be an 07 but apparently there may be now
Biggest change was from 04 to 05. The center dash, console and cupholders are different and the entire CEM (electrical) suppedly runs at twice the speed making for quicker suspension changes, personally they feel about the same. Different rear bumper. A couple of different colors each year
Radio is different (worse IMO)
06s have "instant traction" (all across the Volvo AWD line), better off the line performance. The torque goes almost all to the rear tires on accelleration.
If you want one all sorted out with a "few" mods, you can check mine out. I may sell it soon
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=53834
JRL

As for Auto Trader, you can list "R" is part of the text search, and then sort the entries by model designation....all the R's will then be together. Worked for me, that's how I found my R.
I think you'll have good success in the price range that you're looking at. Keep your eyes on the marketplace here, and on Autotrader, and on the Volvo CPO listings online.
Actually, here's a nice one in California http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=51989, although the price is a bit high...I paid 28k for my '04 with Nav, albeit 26k miles. But as he said, all reasonable offers considered. It is an auto, though.
Good luck

I went to http://www.volvousa.com which redirected to volvocars.us. Under vehicles/V70 I do not see an R. I do see an S60 R though.
I will do better searching on Autotrader. Thanks for the info and tips.
I'm not returning until August, so now I just want to get an idea of market pricing, typical mileage, etc.

Thanks again

Re: (TimB)

My friend, you need a Google lesson!
http://new.volvocars.com/r/us_...ncept
Also, if you are looking at the main Volvo website, they will not trot out the R propoganda, but if you are looking at features, pricing, std. equip., etc. you will see the R listed in the right hand column.
Good luck. You're doing what I did...trolling the market for a couple of months then hitting when you see a good deal. My advice...keep an active database....note when you first see cars, their mileage and price, what the price changes to and how long they take to sell. The R is not the "super hot ultra exclusive premium model" that it's made out to be. The '06 sales haven't been rapid. If you get a used dealer telling you that you'd better snap up a car before it's sold, tell him to go pound. I've seen used R's sit for 3 months or better in some cases.
