there I was against a boxster (I think that's what the cheapest Porsche is called now a days) two lanes , I pulled ahead and I can't really launch this fwd wagon that good especailly with the torque / boost . so I wonder , could a fwd non superior car like a v50 beat a car like say a boxster if we were both "trying" I beat him , I'll admit I was "trying" but I'll also admit the boxster guy might have not been prepaired for such a wagon. under "perfect " conditions ...... what do you think? hate to make a porsche boy cry to his mom because of a Volvo Wagon guy pulled ahead.

Re: V50 T5 bsr vs Porsche Boxster (V50_T5)

From Porsche's site:
Boxter: 0-60 in 5.9 seconds
Boxter S: 0-60 in 5.2 seconds
The difference in engine is 0.5L and 60bhp.
I assume a T5 BSR hits 0-60 in a little under 6 seconds? From a standstill, you'd be hard pressed to beat the base model. Rolling start, though, the torque would probably give you the edge; maybe even on the S.

Earlier models were even less powerful - they get beaten by some pretty modest cars in straight line. Corners are a bit different, though...

Yeah, don't understand the appeal of the Boxter; You're paying $40k+ for a Porsche badge. For that kind of money, you can get an S4 or an M3.

Re: V50 T5 bsr vs Porsche Boxster (Mistral)

I couldn't say either, on those 0-60 mph times of a bsr stage 3 but can really understand bsr's reasoning for not including this info , insted things like 100-150km/h 4th gear acceleration. or 80-120 km/h 3rd gear acceleration. the added power and where it comes in 2500 rpm + , doesn't make a fwd volvo any easier to launch, but once going is where the power is welcomed . It was still amusing to pull ahead of a porsche that may or may not have been "trying" .
