Hi Guys,

I'm in the prospect of purchasing a used 2015 S60 Polestar. The car has done about 40,000km.

Just a couple of questions:

Is there any things I should look for in terms of red flags?

The car does come with a space saver wheel. I though that this would not fit on the car due to the brakes?

As for servicing and parts, is it pretty much based off a T6?

Regards
Eddie

Strut mounts and brakes have been the most common issues.

It is based off of a T6.

Good luck on your purchase - post some pics when you get it and join the facebook group!

Based off the T6 that had oil consumption issues? Is this one revised/sorted?

Can the awd hold the power unlike the p2 Rs?

How does the revised tf80 hold up in this car?

Anyone know about TSBs?

Is there a master thread somewhere we haven’t found?

Get one that has documented service, clear title, and carfax/autocheck report. Highly recommend getting a PPI done (at a shop specializing in Volvos).
Since it will likely be out of warranty, consider aftermarket options and incorporate that into the purchase price.

Make sure you get rebel blue. =D

Good luck!

Its borderline, guys that run tuned cars do have problems with it overheating. Its very close to its torque limits even stock.

The TG81-SC in the 4 cylinder cars is also close to its limit, but it has to handle less torque overall.

As for the AWD system, i think the generation of Haldex system used on these cars lacks an oil filter, the probably going need frequent oil changes to get them to last.

The later gen T6's don't have the oil consumption issues that the earlier ones did.

The AWD system is more robust than what was used in the P2 R.

The TF80 is right at its design limits in this car but there have been no reports of issues yet.

I feel the T6 cars will be very reliable in the long run if left stock. End of a long production cycle cars with everything revised. Still most repairs and maintenance are manageable as DIY. At the current prices I think is a lot of car and high quality hardware for the $

What is the model year cutoff where the oil consumption issue was resolved on the T6?

I don't know exactly. I have '15.5 and '16 T6's currently and neither burns a drop of oil. I also don't see any reports of oil burning for these years on swedespeed or on the Polestar facebook page, which has around 500 members.

Just an update, I received delivery of the Polestar and it is an awesome car.

Just a couple of quirks which I found out about the car so hopefully somebody will be able to answer:
1. The seat belt and door notification on the dash, does that always come up? No way to get this to stop coming up?
2. Does the gear shift light up at night?
3. Is there a way when you press the "unlock" button on the remote that all the external lights come on (as in the headlamps, side mirror lights).
4. Does the auto windscreen wipers turn off everytime you turn off the car?
5. I've paired my phone to the infotainment via bluetooth. Can take and receive calls, however whenever my phone rings, the phone rings but the car does not (as in there is no ringing from the cars speakers)
6. When I turn off the car after a family drive, I noticed that the rear doors stay locked and cannot be opened from the outside. Only inside you can open up. Is this normal?

Cheers

I'll try and answer:
1. Yes, those notifications come up. Not sure why that would be a problem if you wear your seatbelt and the doors are closed?
2. The gearshift should light up at night though there has been reports of ones that are broken - sounds like that's what you have there.
3. Not that I've seen like on past Volvo models I've owned.
4. Yes.
5. Perhaps you need to raise the volume of the incoming call ring.
6. Yes, rear doors and frankly all doors stay locked until they are opened from the inside - normal.
