There is a designed path for this purpose exiting the front driver-side top, just below the lift-up door. If you look, you will see a graphic showing this. The trouble is that it doesn't allow fully-hidden wires. I agree that this is kind of weak.

I'm not sure where you mean? Is the path over the tunnel into the cup holder area?

I just meant this:

If you look carefully, you can see the "Cable routing" label above the USB plugs.
