I urgently need to order a pair of European wide-angle, heated, water repellent
coated side mirrors for my 2005 XC90. Volvo part number 30674670.
These are to replace the present ones which were badly scratched by some
#$#^%#$^& detailing people.
Borton Volvo used to carry them, but they don't anymore. They carry the
version without the water repellent coating.
Does anybody know of other US Volvo parts dealers that may carry
the European parts?
TIA,
Sergio

Re: US source for European Volvo parts? Looking for wid-angle mirrors. (sliberman)

I had the water repellent version on my current XC and long story short, I ended up replacing them with the wide angle from my old XC that were not water repellent.
I have never noticed any difference FWIW

I asked about the water repellant feature as well when I first joined, and the opinion was that it was useless. It MAY prevent ice from forming on them during ice storms un here - I'll let you know this winter - but that's not a worry for you Texans...

myswedishparts.com seems to carry a lot of Euro-only parts. They are the first place I shop when I am looking for parts not normally found in the USA.

I just ordered the European mirrors from Borton Volvo.
The part number is 30744795. Yesterday they told me the mirrors
were not water repellent.
But today they said that the mirrors are actually water repellent.
I will see tomorrow when they arrive, the mirrors should have a symbol
indicating that they have a water repellent coating.
Sergio

Re: US source for European Volvo parts? Looking for wid-angle mirrors. (sliberman)

How to the "European" mirrors compare to those found on American vehicle's right side? More convex? Less? The same?
I too would like some convex mirrors for my '08 XC90...on both sides!
I had previously installed a pair of convex mirrors from MultiVex (multivexmirror.net) on an Explorer and quickly grew to love the things. I've been trying to get them to make a set for the late model XC90 but they are poor at responding to individual requests for a custom build, regardless of cost. They do have some other Volvo models.
A disadvantage some may find is the mirrors are stick-on so the ability to heat them is lost. I've never found this to be a problem. They take a bit of getting used to since they are "flat" for about 3/4 of the mirror closest to the vehicle and "rolled" heavily convex on the outer 1/4. There are NO blind spots.
The right side mirror on American vehicles (certainly so on the XC90) are not convex enough for my tastes. City traffic is just too intense to not have a handle on things going on around you without having your head on a swivel in rush hour traffic.

The euro mirrors are just as you described, flat for about 3/4 of the mirror closest to the vehicle and "rolled" heavily convex on the outer 1/4.
sliberman, and are they?
