Us R guys aren't the only ones mixing 101 octane

As I was pulling in to get my usual 5-6 gallons, I noticed a nicely lowered Audi A6 2.7t doing the same thing. Sure enough, he left the 76 station and went down to the Chevron to complete the filling process. Just like I do everytime! I don't really visit other forums, but it appears some Audi turbo owners are doing the same as us guys.

As an aside, I noticed a shop in Issaquah that sells race gas (the shop that sells ATV's down from Olympic boats) but didn't get a chance to stop. Any Sammamish R owners know anything about it?

There are a whole range of drivers mixing the racing unleaded to get more octane bang - especially in California where we are blessed with the 91 octane pisswater. When I have been filling up at the 76 station that sells the racing unleaded, I have noticed Audi S4s, RS6s, M3s, Corvettes (besides mine), SVT Lightnings, and, and, and. Basically any high perfomrance car will benefit from an octane level that is higher than the pisswater that passes for premium in California. I would imagine that this same scenario plays itself out everywhere else that premium gas is limited to 91 octane.

LOL....us audi guys are 1 step ahead!
Running 104 octane in my TT, im able to adjust the timing via my laptop. I crank it up and the power is downright scary! She pulled 315 hp and 370 tq on the dyno running pump. I'd imagine on 104 I could bump the number up by about 15-20 hp.

Re: Us R guys aren't the only ones mixing 101 octane (TighTT)

Out of curiousity, is that 55 gallon drum of 104 octane? Or???? And how much did it cost? Did you have to pick it up, or was it delivered? The nice thing about having a gas station relatively nearby for me is the convenience. But if the access was not there, it would be better to be able to buy in 55 gallon lots (especially if the price/gallon was close to the pump price).
Do you have the APR ECU software on your TT? If so, I thought that you could adjust the timing avance by clicking some combination of buttons on one of the steering wheel stalks????

Re: Us R guys aren't the only ones mixing 101 octane (avolvofan)

avolvofan,
The picture is of a 15 gallon drum of Sunoco 104 octane. I gat get the gas (100 or 104) about 15 minutes from my home at a pump. I always keep the 15G drum fillied just incase I decide to go to the track (or just have some Sunday fun) and the station is closed. I run custom Dahlback software...far superior to my old APR software. Downside is ....DB need to be adjusted via a laptop. Plus-side is...I can adjust the timing exactly where I want it.

A question for the Seattle or nearby R owners.
I'm going to Seattle Premium Outlet next week. Does anybody know where I can get race fuel north of exit 202 on I5? I remember reading that race fuel is available in Auburn but that's just too far from Everett.

On the Mukilteo Speedway (near the Boeing plant) there is 100 octane available. Only problem, you'll need to bring a can. It is pricy as well at $7.50 per gallon. So I need to bring my own jerry can there instead of filling up from the pump? USD$7.50 per gallon isn't as bad when I pay CAD$13 to $15 per gallon locally. I really want to buy a drum of race fuel and bring it back to Canada but I don't have proper inport licenses for the inflamable items.
I went to the Boeing plant long time ago and the giant building is really amazing. Boeing offers a tour for visitor seeing the plant and I remember I bought one of those license plate says "My other vehicle is a Boeing 747". haha
