I ordered a new cabin filter for my father's 850, and installed it yesterday afternoon. I had him road test it, and he says that the defroster is kicking out air at full force. When I pulled the old filter out, I noticed that it was rather dirty, and when I checked the service records I realized that it had been around 30k since it was last replaced. There was also quite a collection of leaves sitting around the filter-nothing which the Shop Vac couldn't handle I referenced Volvospeed, as they had quite detailed pictures of how to replace the filter, which was quite useful for me as I have never personally swapped this particular filter out. My father is going out of town today, and seeing as how rain is still hanging around Northern California, I will be able to report back this weekend as to whether or not the cabin filter was indeed the source of the defroster troubles. Have a splendid Thursday one and all

Just a quick question Scirocco, Did his car have a pollen filter? I am thinking of getting the adapter from IPD and a charcole filter for my 97 855.

Re: (DVolvoguy777)

My father had the adpater (from IPD) installed some years ago, and all I had to do was swap out the filter. Because my parts place in Southern California didn't have the upgrade filter, I went with the OEM Mann filter. After checking out the installation procedure on Volvospeed.com, it took me less than five minutes to swap out the filter and vacuum the leaves which had accumulated next to the filter. Have a wonderful day DVolvoguy

Spoke to my father this morning, and he said the defroster worked like a charm while he was on the go in Northern California-during yet another rain storm. Have a wonderful weekend everybody

Re: (DVolvoguy777)

Hey DVolvoguy....I just responded to you over on the 240 forum Nice to see that there are multiple people on both the 240 and 850 forums Were you able to acquire the adapter and filter for your 850? When you do, go to Volvospeed.com, click on repairs/maintenance, click on "click to enter," click on filters, then click on pollen filter replacement, and there is an excellent step by step procedure(with pictures) detailing how the job is most easily done. Have a splendid week

Scirocco, I put a 242GT together back in 90. That car was fast with heavy hp for a B21F. I will build me an other one one day. I just got to get a garage outside of a town home.. I also wanted to build a B30 and stick it in my 142E. My divorce shut that project down.
At any rate, Ill get that pollen filter kit this coming payday. Ill Refrence that filter link when I get the parts..
BTW, my 855 is coming together! You have a great week too.
Just so you know, there is a guy in Fullerton CA, Clay Smith, He aint afraid to work on Volvo highpreformance cams, crankshafts and connecting rods. I built my B18 and B21 F with his parts.
