so i was in a bad car wreck last week. i was 200 miles from home. i was in a m3, not mine, and its totaled. i broke my 5th metatarsel on my clutch foot, bruised some ribs, bruised my stomach, bruised nose and minor burn on wrist from air bag. im completly unable to drive right now. i went through alot of pain to get home(try clutching with a broken foot). what should i do with the car? is it ok if its not driven for a couple weeks? like fuel life and whatnot, i really dont know. im helping my friend look for a good car for around 10-13k and not an r, any sugestions? oh ya, if i wasnt wearing my seatbelt i would likely be in the hospital or dead so if u dont wear yours then you are a fool. as for now i cant go out for the rest of 2nd to last summer of colleg break and im supa bored.

Re: (Needsdecaf)

+1, My R periodically sits for weeks without being started. It seems fine and starts right up. Never had a problem.
I don't know if its true; a tech told me that the car goes into a "sleep" mode if not used for a certain period of time. I dont know what the time period is, but the way it was explained to me is that the ECU reduces the draw on the battery to a trickle as long as the doors are locked.

Re: unable to drive R :( (R broski)

I feel you man. A while back (Driving my S40 T5) I broke my second and third metatarsel. My good sister was all too willing to trade me her auto Nissan Stanza for 3 weeks so I could get to and from work. The notion was very kind although I think she had an ulterior motive.
Get well soon!!!

Ditto everyone elses comments. Glad you're "okay" and only dinged up a bit. Too bad about the M3, but a car can always be replaced.

Re: (wdodge52)

You are all full of sh t, the OP should immediately fly me down there to drive that thing for him in the meantime. Bad bad things can happen to that car if you don't let a swedespeeder keep it warm while you recuperate!
JK
Take it easy and dont worry about it. Hell, start it up every couple weeks if you want. I let mine sit at the airport for 30 days at a shot, no problem.
Unless, of course, you WANT me to come get it?
Only real problem is Chilled Man better not see it sitting too long or he starts salivating.

damn man, that sucks. But, it looks like your fracture of the metatarsal can heal up quickly. You'll be driving in two weeks.
I can relate; on December 31st I broke my left ankle (broken tibula and talus) I was operated on on the 15th of January where the doctor put in a plate and six screws. I was on cruthes and pain meds for a month, after which I begun walking. I was running again at the end of March.
The ankle still hurts from time to time and gets swollen...
have a speedy recovery
