Well as well know the crappy UK Government lead by imbeciles is now making the majority of us pay over £450 per year in road tax for cars purchased years ago.
Is anyone planning on changing their car and if so what engine will you be going for next? I'm thinking the D5 is the probably the best solution but diesel prices are so high that I wonder if theres any benefit in changing.

Re: UK Road Tax (Token)

Not sure on which engine is best yet depends on fuel prices.
best to sell post 2001 cars and have something older I think, until the rules change again possibly. Luckily I am not affected at the present with my 97 v70. Also most of the brand new cars sold are company fleet vehicles so the actual drivers don't have to pay apart from company car tax. But hopefully it will stop the idea of having a 2 ton 4x4 to go to tesco's with after tacking the 1 child to school in concrete london where there is no mud.
unfotunately govt is trying to make back lost revenue from less people smoking etc. therefore you don't get something for nothing.
The big Volvo's though are heavy on fuel and not that clean unfortunately.
ccars upto estate size should be taxed normally as they are now and clobber over 3000cc or weight of vehicle over 1.7 ton.
Give me your view
Re: UK Road Tax (russv70)

Just swapped my S60 D5 for a C70 2.0d should save about £50, hopefully more when the new tax changes kick in
