Hello everyone. I have a silver 2.4i without the body kit. As you all know the lower part of the car is a rough dark gray kit. I was thinking about installing the OEM body kit but leave it the same color as the plastic dark grey lower parts that came with the car instead of an all-silver look. Any opinions on this?? Anyone who has done it? I think the front lip and side would look good in dark gray. Not sure about the rear valence, though.
Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Yeah, it would look really bad. No ones done it because the photoshops that are floating around say it all. ill see if i can drag one up for you.

There is a shop that did two s40s, a white and grey one. They both had ms deisgn kits and the side skirt was mostly color matched except for a small of the side panel. I'm in the same situation you are in but that would be you best bet. Definitely don't buy the a kit and not paint it. If you don't want to spend big bucks and see it all of the way through don't mess with it. Here....

Re: (GetDown)

That car looks nice. Are those Pegs 18"s? I am not saying I would install the body kit unpainted (primed). I was talking about painting it kind of like a flat charcoal grey or something. Like trying to match the plastic trim color and get that two-tone effect.

Not a bad idea, if done correctly. I really like how the C30 looks, the off white colored one with the dark body kit. Has a great contrast but colors look good together. I think a dark glossy gray or brown would look awesome!

Thats ok, if you two tone it make sure you throw some of that darkish color thats on the trim elsewhere on the car. Like smoke you tails so it matches and MAYBE something with the grille.
Can we get this man a photoshop?????

I personally dislike smoked tails, unless it is on a black car. I do not think you need to add that dark gray color anywhere else on your car if you go that route, the dark color of the body kit and the tires will make it flow nicely (just like the photo posted of the newer s40). The only place I would add the dark color is on the roof of the car only.

Kind of like the new C30 approach. I think if I do it in my '06 with the dark headlights and paint the gfx flat dark gray instead of glossy it would look really nice too. I am trying to find out if there is a way to make the kit rough to the touch like the original molding and then have it painted flat dark gray. My goal is to do that, get some Medusas and lowering springs.
As soon as I get my laptop back from the shop I'll photoshop some pics.

Re: (lando_pr)

Well, I photoshopped a picture of an S40 with body kit. There's a body painted one, a flat dark gray one and a gloss painted one. Please don't look too much at the quality of the photoshop. I did this very quickly and just to show you my idea. Let me know what you think.

Re: (lando_pr)

I was thinking about going with Medusas but now that I see this car I might go with the Nebulas and paint the spokes the same color as the body kit. Opinions on Nebulas?

Re: Two tone body kit (lando_pr)

Personally I don't like the 2 tone look if it looks like a different part of the car. It always makes me think the part came from a different colored car and the owner couldn't afford to paint it to match. If there wasn't a seem there I would probably like it.
