A bit off topic (certainly from the question of cars tracking you), but aside from Studebaker, did any car makers start out as carriage makers? I'm sure there must have been some assembled cars at least, but I genuinely can't think of a single brand other than Stude. Sometimes industry transitions, and sometimes it transforms.

Peugeot started as a cold rolled steel and bicycle manufacturer.
