I have never owned a turbo engine before, so I'm wondering if it requires special maintenance. Can anyone answer this question? Also, are Volvo turbo engines reliable ?

Change your oil when you are supposed to and if you want to pamper your car, switch to a good synthetic oil.
Volvo engines, turbo or non, are SUPER reliable.
Yannis

As far as reliability is concerned, hopefully the engine should be the least of your worries.
-Drew

Re: Turbo Engine Maintenance ([email protected])

Sorry for my ignorance. I had heard that turbo engines require different care, and I just wanted to know if that was the case before making a purchase. I have used synthetic oil on my Accord for the last year, so that is a given for me!

Royal Purple, Amsoil, or Mobile-1 would be the way to go.
-Drew

Same maintenance schedule applies for the turbos as for the normally aspirated engines. Just make sure that you use a quality synthetic oil (not required but recommended), change it regularly, if you flog the engine make sure you let it idle for a minute before you shut it off and do not race it when cold. No rocket science!
Yannis
