Now that's something you don't see everyday in North America. Here are some more out of place 850 engines, all of which are of European origin:
245 with an 850 engine
740 w/850 engine
740 w/850 engine(same as above, different angle)
140 w/850 engine
'75 242

Maybe I will be one of the first in the US to do the T5 in a 245! I have been thinking about doing this over the winter if all goes well. I am still waiting on some job-related answers first though. Anyone wanna help?
Prospero
Kai,
I may take you up on the offer! At least I know the car handles well and is ready for the transplant.
Sean, thanks for being there! BTW, I am going to try to do the Fla. trip. Once things cool off next week I'll touch base with you.
Prospero
Prospero
We have booked a campsite at a resort very just about 4 miles from the show spot, if you want to camp you can just come on our site or we may get a hotel for a few nights. See what you can do, and it is very close to all the main theme parks to! One thing you may want to know is that if you decide to go get the form in or the late charge of $25 the day of the show I think.
850Rwagon,
Just find a local shop fabricate one for you. I'll post my downpipe's pic...hehehe...talking about big pipe.
Matt, let me know if you are serious about this because Rob's friend is seriously thinking about getting all my suspension parts.

[This message has been edited by The_one_n_only (edited 09-10-2001).]
I do not know how long it took to import due to the fact the chance to purchase it came up while I was into my second month waiting for a Supersprint system. Our other local dealer had imported three systems, two for 850/C70 and one for an 2000 AWDR. One order was cancelled and it was just ment to be, had it on the next week. Only one exhaust upgrade to do, as far as I am told the exhaust side of the turbo needs some help, this winter I will send out a spare turbo I have to play with and have an impeller upgrade as well as the outlet worked over and any other tricks that this shop knows, we will see how that turns out next spring.
Sean,
Do you know how much the turbo rebuild is going to cost you?
I did go with that route a year and half ago...wasted way to much money on rebuilding the turbo while I could get a very nice beefy aftermarket one for half of the price.
They did a nice job on my turbo, but it was not worth my effort, time, and energy though.
If you can't get the labor down to $400 and below, don't bother. A good off-the-shelf one would only cost you $500~$600.

Oh yeah..forgot to mention this.
This past weekend, went to 355 Volvo parts dpt. The guy over the counter was going to sell us this brand factory turbo for $500~! And he didn't even know which turbo that was...if this happens to be one of the bigger turbos from the factory and Matt didn't want to buy it...I'll let you guys know.
The turbo's TCV (or maybe it was the bypass valve) is damaged, but you can always buy another one fairly easy and cheap.
I know how much the factory turbo is, but $500 is still a bit much for something that is supposed to be under-the-table kinda deal.
The guy must think he can make a fortune outta this. Well, what do you expect from someone who told you that they are going to come a C70R while they won't have the C70 in 2003. (Hehe...Matt, can't believe you actually almost believed him)

Actually!? No man, it was totally. Anyone that wants to sell a damaged turbo of which he doesn't even know the application for, has got to be right about everything! Hell, I was about 10 seconds away from asking the guy what the meaning of life is!
Prospero
I knew it~!
Let me know if that nutty guy ever calls you to sell those turbo. Hehehe..I'll blackmail him and get the turbo for $100!!

quote:
Originally posted by Prospero:
Actually!? I have not asked yet, I will get an est before any work is done as see what he will deliver. You are talking U.S funds as far as the $400 is concerned, I will not spend that much and will look for another complete one if ist is crazy $$$$, this one was free so if he can do anything with it the cost may not be to bad. As far as the parts boy is concerned take him to the cleaners, he sounds like a waste of oxygen.
Sean,
That's not bad at all then. Yeah..I would even just try to get either the 18T or the 19T turbo if you don't want to spend too much time working on the turbo.
Hehehe..that guy def didn't know much about the parts he was selling.
