Anyone know where this is? What part of the latch -- on the lid or the body (bumber) of the car (it's a sedan)? This has been bugging me like crazy lately -- no light when I open the trunk. The switch on the light only serves to turn the light always on.

Any info appreciated,
Matthew

Re: Trunk light -- where is the sensor? (Donald Brashear)

I had a similar problem with my wagon, except sometimes I couldn't get it to go out. I found I had to close the gate harder, which led me to believe the switch is in the hinge somewhere.... since i couldn't find it anywhere else either.

BPT850T, you are correct. According to the schematic, the switch is in the latch. Perhaps it can be adjusted. That would be easy enough to look at.

I had eliminated the latch as the switch point because I could latch it with the gate open but the light wouldn't go out.... Of course that was the problem I was having so it wasn't a very good test was it.
I guess the switch had come out of allignment... probably from people slamming the gate.
It's a Volvo, not an '82 Caprice wagon!
