Tonight I had something weird happen with the trip odometer. I left the key in position I, with the engine off, to reset the trip odometer as I fueled up. After I finished fueling, I turned the key to position II and the trip odometer jumped from 0.0 miles to 0.3 miles! I turned the key back to position 0 (no lights on dash) and then back to position I, and the trip odometer still ready 0.3 miles. Any ideas why??? I found it a little odd.

Yes, the handbreak was on.

Actually, when I reset it the second time, I think it may have been in position II (after I had turned everything off and on again). I'm wondering if this is a software problem? Does it only affect the trip odometer or would this affect the real odometer too?

I had a problem like this in my s40's trip computer. It turned out to be some loose connections in the dash. It was under warranty so there wasn't much, they kept it for the night because they had to open up the steering wheel to get behind it, but it was quick.
